Ty Lee is the acrobatic, fun girl of the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Here are 10 stunning pieces of cosplay that we love.
Through masterfully written character arcs and equally memorable character designs, it's really no surprise that the colorful cast that inhabits Avatar: The Last Airbender have still been so fondly remembered, even as the time since its initial release continues to pass. There's no better indicator of that than just how long it sat at Netflix's Top 10, even more than a month after it was added. Aside from the protagonist and those who journey with him , the Fire Nation boasts some of the most memorable and deadly characters out of the cast, but not all of them are quite as vicious as others.
Enter Ty Lee, the acrobatic performer turned Kiyoshi Warrior, who started out following Azula and wishing for something to make her stand out, but by the end helped Mai betray her and found peace within herself. Being the bubbliest member of the Fire Nation cast by far, it's no wonder that her cute yet breathable design became a hit with cosplayers.
Ty Lee is the most energetic and bubbly out of the Fire Nation girls by far, and being a member of the circus also granted her with having one of the flashier outfits, given her status as a performer whose job is to draw attention to herself.
MangoSirene does an absolutely wonderful job at drawing out her personality simply with her pose, and her over-the-shoulder glance boasts her trademark confidence. Her costume is lovely as well, and the creative liberties that were taken (for example, making the back resemble a corset) work quite well.
Whenever fans were to think about the Beach episode, the light-pink bikini that Ty Lee wears for most of the episode is usually what comes to mind first- mostly due to how well the lighter, cuter color matches her personality. Later on, however, she dons a more modest two-piece outfit that represents the darker, powerful tones of the Fire Nation.
BLPcosplay couldn't have picked a better pose and expression to capture Ty Lee's personality, and the quality of her costume looks regal enough to be right out of the aristocratic Fire Nation.
Ty Lee and Mai have completely opposite personalities, but fans will be well aware of the fact that they eventually unite in order to take down Azula, despite the fact that it does end in Ty Lee being imprisoned. That's where she got to meet and join the Kiyoshi Warriors , though, so all's well that ends well, right?
Vivichi looks simply stunning as Ty Lee, radiating confidence with the hand-on-hip pose beside her Mai, and it's always a joy to see cosplayers give their outfits a more realistic feel, rather than just seeming like a costume.
Fans of the series will already be aware that Ty Lee eventually does help Mai rise up above their fear of Azula and find the strength to follow their hearts, but for a good chunk of the series, Ty Lee seems rather complacent clinging onto the ever-powerful Azula.
Both of their personalities at this point in the show are captured wonderfully, and Ty Lee looks especially possessive of CelticSakura's Azula, who in return radiates nothing but pure confidence. Both of their ensembles look more like real swimsuits than something for cosplay, as well, which is a nice touch.
One of the first things that viewers will notice about Ty Lee, especially in contrast to the rest of the typically overly serious Fire Nation, is her bright and bubbly smile that could lighten any room. It makes her come off as incredibly non-threatening, which is a great way for her to mask her skills until she actually needs them.
That doesn't make it any less genuine, though, and egdramaqueen couldn't have done a better job at capturing her picture-perfect smile. Her pose and makeup fit Ty Lee's personality perfectly as well, and the added flair to her sleeves and pants give the costume a more ornate feel.
Ty Lee is an incredibly brave and powerful character who struggles with internal conflict throughout the series much more than some viewers probably realized, as it can be easy to overlook at times. She often has insults hurled at her from other Fire Nation members , most notably "circus freak", but she brushes this off by saying she views it as a compliment.
Lucid_dreamer_cosplay did an excellent job at showing Ty Lee's bright resilience, and both her costume and wig look incredibly accurate. Despite the description saying that the colors weren't quite right, she still captures Ty Lee's radiant aura.
A great cosplayer doesn't even need their expression in the shot to pull off the personality of their character, and that couldn't be more clear than in this shot of mariesturges' Ty Lee. She notes in the description that she still needs a proper wig, but that doesn't stop her from pulling off a fantastic rendition of her braid regardless.
Every part of her costume looks wonderfully crafted, and all it takes is the simple braid twirl and her other hand resting on her hip to bring out her personality.
The deep-red two-piece that Ty Lee dons in the second half of the beach episode suits her fiery passionate personality quite well, and is a great change of pace from the lighter tones that she tends to wear. Linicchii couldn't have done a better job at capturing her personality on camera, and her attention to detail is immaculate.
The choice to pose sitting atop a cannon is quite interesting and helps add a lot of personality and intrigue to the shot itself, aside from a basic character pose.
Ty Lee is an incredibly adventurous spirit who would much rather explore life's possibilities first and stop to think things through fully later, though that's not to say she isn't bright- if anything, her straightforward and bold personality is what helps her overcome Azula's rule over her and Mai at the end of the series.
What better way to show off a character's brave spirit than by climbing a tree in order to pose? Gigis_wonderland did just that, showing her commitment to the character, and her costume looks absolutely lovely.
Characters like Ty Lee and Mai show viewers that despite the world of Avatar mostly being one that favors benders over non-benders, one can still be incredibly strong in their own rights even without possessing the same abilities. Tails_ham_cosplay does an excellent job at showing off Ty Lee while in her fighting stance, ready to leap off her feet at a moment's notice and use her acrobatic skills to confuse and overwhelm her opponents.
Despite this cosplay being somewhat dated, it still holds up wonderfully, which is a testament to the quality of the costume and the cosplayer's ability to draw out their character's personality.

Rock Lee has one of the most iconic costumes in Naruto . It’s definitely playing on Bruce Lee sensibilities (which is also clear from his name) and ideas about how kung-fu fits into this series about teenagers learning to be ninjas.
He’s a comedic character but also one who it’s impossible to not root for, since he isn’t especially talented as a ninja and everything he’s able to do, he has learned through hard work and very intensive training. So it’s no surprise that many cosplayers pay tribute to Rock Lee and his indomitable spirit. Here are 10 amazing Rock Lee cosplays that look like they came straight out of the series.
The most iconic things about Rock Lee are his bowl cut and his incredibly thick eyebrows. The two things together make up such an important part of how Rock Lee looks . This cosplayer has really managed to get these elements of the cosplay down just right, really going all in on the incredibly thick eyebrows and extra emphasis on the eyelashes. Plus, their ultra big eyes really remind us of Rock Lee’s intensity.

Rock Lee fights with weights on his arms and legs in order to challenge himself and push himself even harder. When things get really dire, he loses the weights in order to become even faster and a much more difficult opponent to defeat.
