Not even Piltover's army of wardens can hope to shut down this dedicated fan's elaborate cosplay of League of Legends' laughing anarchist, Jinx.
A creative fan is geared up to be everyone's enemy with her cosplay of the gun-toting Jinx from League of Legends .
Cosplayer Eleanor Barnes went to paint the town red in a steampunk costume inspired by The Loose Cannon's appearance in the animated spinoff series Arcane . In particular, Jinx's blue cloud tattoos were recreated and preserved with painstaking care, with Barnes even commenting she had trouble scrubbing the material off.
First introduced back in 2013, Jinx quickly became one of the most popular champions in League of Legends for her manic grin and vast armory of explosives. The minigun-wielding marksman starred in everything from her own personal music video to dedicated short stories aimed at fleshing out the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Most recently, she was one of the main characters in Arcane , a series pioneering Riot's expansion into television media. The show shined a spotlight over Jinx's origins, revealing the events that transformed Vi's soft-spoken sister Powder into the chaotically impulsive criminal of the source material.
"She wasn't just born this super sexy psychopath. That doesn't happen," Jinx's voice actor Ella Purnell said. "She became the way that she is because of the trauma that she experienced. I think seeing Powder at the start of the season is really helpful in setting that context for the audience." Purnell further explained Jinx's manic energy was one of the most intriguing traits of the character, emphasizing how she darted between brattiness and spontaneity.
Executive Producer Christian Linke also believed Jinx and Vi's complicated relationship served as a perfect entry point for Arcane , saying the sister-nemesis dynamic carried League of Legends ' epic mythos without potentially overwhelming newcomers with lore. This was part of the creative team's effort to create a memorable platform for discussion for all followers of the world of Runterra, including veterans who have stuck with the IP and all the animations that came before it.
In the wake of Arcane 's success, Riot Games discussed a potential live-action series for League of Legends . Riot Global President of Entertainment Shauna Spenley announced the company's plans to dabble in other forms of entertainment media, claiming Riot "was just testing the waters of TV and film content for now."
League of Legends is a free-to-play MOBA available for PC. Its animated spinoff series Arcane is available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.
