Carmilla is faced with seeing her mother for the first time in two years, and Laura's right by her side. Things take a turn on the way home, though, and Carmilla blurts out something she's been trying to keep quite for a while.

Manila, Madridista, Artist, and sometimes a writer
Laura is excited for their dorms annual Halloween party but there’s a catch, you have to bring your roommate with you. No roommate, no entry. Will she convince Carmilla to go with her and wear a costume?
(belated happy halloween. Better late than never i guess. This was written while listening to Dada Life on repeat)
Halloween at Silas has always been an.. Extravagant affair. All the different clubs organizes their own events, perfect to suite each students taste.
She’s staring at their dormitories bulletin board, eyes scanning the different flyers happening tonight. She doesn’t have plans and there’s no way in frilly hell that she’s staying in their room on a perfectly good night.
There was the Paranormal Club’s annual ghost hunting shindig, happening at the abandoned engineering building. All interested students must bring their own ouija board and holy water, they must also sign a waiver stating that the school is not to blame for any demonic possession that might occur at said event. Oh and a $2 entrance fee.
Laura moves on to the next one, she’s already living with a vampire, no need to add another supernatural being in the picture.
There’s the Zeta Omega Mu’s ‘Scare your pants off! Pool party!’ Basically it’s just a frat pool party filled with drunken morons and entrance is prohibited to those wearing pants.
Ugh. Now they’re just looking for excuses to see girls in bikinis. Laura shakes her head in disgust.
That leaves only one event, their dorms ‘Trick or Treating and Times Two party’, organized by Perry and LaF. Laura scans the black and orange poster for details, praying that it be a normal event that doesn’t involve anything paranormal.
Trick or Treating and Times Two party!
All residences of dorm A3 are encouraged to distribute candies and decorate their door for Halloween.
Trick or treating will start at 4pm and end at 6pm. To be followed by the times two party at the common room.
Residences are encouraged to bring their roommate to the party. No roommate, no entrance.
Laura’s mood drops at the last sentence. Carmilla would never agree to go with her , and besides, she’s a popular girl, she might already have plans tonight. Laura sighs, maybe she can convince LaF to let her in alone.
Laura turns around, she sees LaF standing behind her with a box of alcohol on their hands.
“Woah,” Laura says, eyeing the Stolichnayas and Jose Cuervos. “What is that for?”
LaF shrugs.“Eh, for later. So what’s got your panties in a twist, Hollis?”
Laura sighs, she brings out her best puppy dog eyes. “Do we really have to go with our roommate later?” She says in her most heartbroken voice. LaF narrows their eyes at her. “Oh no, those eyes aren’t going to work this time. And yes, it’s obligatory.”
“But whyyyy.” Laura whines, her shoulders slumping forward.
“So you and your roommate can bond, duh.” LaF’s face turns into a smirk. “And besides, perfect chance, yeah?”
Laura glares at them and crosses her arms. “Perfect chance for what?”
“Ugh!” She groans, throwing her hands up. “I don’t- ugh. Please LaFontaine.” She begs, already close to kneeling on the tiled floor.
“Nope, sorry Laura. Can’t break the rules” LaF says, straightening their back. Laura rolls her eyes.
“You’re already breaking the rules. You think I don’t know that alcohol isn’t allowed on dorm parties?” She says smugly, crossing her arms again over her chest.
LaF just shrugs, their phone rings and they pick it from their pocket and look at the screen. “Oh shit,” They say. “Perry’s looking for me, turns out someone cast a curse in the common room. Mysterious writings in blood kept appearing.” They turn around and start walking away, after a few steps they turn to Laura and shout. “See you later, yeah?”
Laura gives them a nod, and watches them walk away. She picks up her bag on the floor and starts walking to their room. How on earth was she going to convince Carmilla to go with her later, she doesn’t know.
She tapes the last piece of construction paper at their door. Laura steps down her chair and admires her work. She decorated their door with maroon and red construction papers, resembling a brick wall. On the middle is a gold paper with the words ‘Platform 9/3 Quarters’ written in Laura’s most elegant writing. She smiles to herself, not a bad job.
“So are we supposed to give ourselves a concussion to get in or what?”
Laura turns to the right and sees Carmilla walking towards her, carrying a plastic bag full of candies on her hand.
“Oh great! You bought the candy.” Laura says, reaching for the bag. “You did buy these right? Cause I swear to god Carmilla if we give away stolen candies-“
“Don’t worry cupcake. They’re clean.” Carmilla says a matter of factly. She opens the door and heads to her bed, Laura following behind. Laura places the candies on her table and turns toward Carmilla, who’s face is buried in the yellow pillow.
“So,” Laura starts, sitting on her own bed. “Any plans tonight?”
Carmilla grunts, lifting her face an inch. “Yes, they involve me, my bed, and not moving for a good 10 hours.”
Laura raises an eyebrow, well that was unexpected. “You’re not going out? That’s new.” Carmilla snorts and turns to her back.
“Well,” Laura says, taking a deep breath. “If you don’t have anything to do, I mean, there is this, erm-“ “Spit it out, Cutie. You look like you’re going to have an aneurism.”
“DoYouWannaGoToThePartyAtTheCommonRoomLater?” Laura says in one breath. Carmilla doesn’t answer, she’s just lying there, sitting on her bed. Laura was about to repeat herself when Carmilla held up one finger.
“You want me to go with you to the party later?”
Laura rolls her eyes. “Because it’s a times two party so you have to bring your roommate.”
“And it’s not because, oh I don’t know, you have a crush on me?” She says smugly, turning her head to look at Laura.
“I don’t! Ugh! You are so full of it!” Laura says defensively, her face blushing red. She crosses her arms and glares at Carmilla who was now laughing.
“I’m flattered. But I think I’ll pass.” Carmilla reaches behind her for her book and opens it.
“But,” Laura whines, she was running out of ideas. “There’s alcohol!”
Carmilla closes the book and turns to Laura, her brows raised.
“LaF snuck some in, they’re bringing some vodka and tequila. And we can’t let good alcohol go to waste right?” She adds sheepishly, her eyes pleading.
“You don’t even drink.” Carmilla states, a smirk on her pale face.
Laura huffs. “I do too!” When I was 5 and I accidentally drank my dad’s beer. “Well?”
Carmilla looks at her for a moment and rolls her eyes. “Fine.” Laura claps her hand and flings herself to her roommate, squealing like a little girl.
“My, my, not yet drunk but getting handsy already. Save it for the party sweetie.” Carmilla teases, her hands around Laura’s waist. Laura’s eyes widen with the realization of how awkward their position is. She’s straddling Carmilla’s waist with her arms around her neck, their face inches away from each other. “Oh my god!” Laura blurts, she scrambles out of Carmilla and returns to her bed. “I am so sorry.” She says, her face red. Carmilla smirks and stands up. “I’m not.” She says huskily, making Laura’s insides melt.
Carmilla grabs her bag and heads out the door.
“Wait, where are you going?” Laura asks, running her hands through her hair.
“To get a costume. Don’t want to disappoint my date later, right?” She says smugly, and leaves the room.
Where the hell is Carmilla. Laura says to herself as she hands out the last of the candy to two guys dressed as Jon Snow and Oberyn Martell. “Happy Halloween!” Laura says enthusiastically. They mutter their thanks and leave. Laura closes the door and grabs her phone, it’s already 5:55, the party is going to start in five minutes and Carmilla’s nowhere to be seen. Laura was about to call her when she hears a knock on the door.
“Hi sorry we don’t have anymore can-“ Laura’s jaw drops as she sees the sight in front of her.
Carmilla is leaning on the doorway of the room in a power suit. She’s wearing a navy blue blazer and a white shirt with the first buttons undone, showing a hint of cleavage, making Laura gulp. Her eyes drift down to the black pencil skirt that barely covers her bottom, to her toned legs clad in black stockings, and the three inches stilettos that look sharper than glass.
Laura closes her mouth, opens it again, and closes it. She takes a deep breath and narrows her eyes at her roommate, who has a hint of a smirk on her red lips. Carmilla steps forward and snakes her hand around Laura’s waist, pulling their hips together. “That’s okay,” She whispers huskily against her ear. “I’ll take this instead.” She nips Laura’s lobe, making her gasp. Laura’s eyes widen and she pushes Carmilla away, hoping that she doesn’t hear how fast her heart is pounding right now.
“A power suit? Are you kidding me?” Laura huffs, her face red.
“Look cutie, I didn’t have many options. It’s either this or a banana costume. And besides, you seem to enjoy it.”
“I don’t-, ugh!” Laura throws her hands up, she was really considering on leaving without Carmilla. “What are you even supposed to be? The dean? At least you already got the immortal and scary part right.”
Carmilla rolls her eyes. “I’m a sexy secretary, sweetheart. And I don’t think you have the right to judge other peoples costumes when you look like an extra in a Britney Spears music video.”
Laura gasps and looks down her costume. She’s supposed to be a Hogwarts student, but her robe and Hufflepuff tie are on her bed, leaving her in a white button down with the sleeves rolled up, a gray plaid skirt, knee high socks and her brown oxford shoes.
“I am a Hufflepuff student!” She exclaims, turning around a grabbing the tie. She ties it in a messy knot and grabs her robe. She puts it on quickly and turns back to Carmilla. “See?”
“I like the school girl look better.” Carmilla drawls, her eyes hooded as she looks at Laura. “We could have some fun with that.” Laura gulps as the images of her and Carmilla in a teacher-student fantasy invades her mind. She shakes her head and walks out the door. “C’mon we’re gonna be late.” She mutters, feeling the vampire smirk behind her.
Laura and Carmilla stops at their tracks when they enter the common room. Music erupts from humongous speakers, the room vibrating in time with the bass. There’s a large dance floor in the middle, occupied by half-drunk students, dancing along to the beat. On the right side is a table, filled with bottles and snacks. Neon lights flashes everywhere, submerging the surroundings in red, blue, and green, transforming their common room into a nightclub. The smell of alcohol, nicotine and weed hung in the air, making Laura scrunch her nose.
“Oh good, you guys made it!” LaFontaine stumbled in front of them, holding two cups of orange liquid. They were wearing a mad scientist costume, a white lab coat with black gloves, with black goggles perched on top of their head.
“Is Perry okay with this??” Laura asks, looking around for their floor don, who was nowhere to be seen.
LaF hands them the cups. “Yeah, yeah, I think. She’s out there dancing. I don’t know I lost her a few minutes ago.” Laura brings the cup to her nose, and she almost gags out from the smell. “What the hell is this?”
“Jungle juice!” LaF slurs, drowning her own cup in one chug. They were clearly intoxicated already. “Well c’mon! Drink up! It’s not gonna drink itself!” Carmilla shrugs and downs her cup, her face scrunching. LaF gives her a thumbs up and makes their way back to the dance floor. Laura stares at them with an uneasy look on her face.
“What’s in this?” She asks Carmilla, shouting over the music. Carmilla leans in close, close enough for Laura to smell her musky scent, mixed with alcohol. “You don’t want to know.” She says, her mouth next to Laura’s ear. “Now come on,” She says, gesturing to Laura’s full cup. “Drink up.”
Laura looks at her cup and finishes it in four sips, the taste of alcohol and orange juice burning down her throat. It’s going to be a long night.
Laura feels like the whole room is spinning. Her vision is wavered and all she could feel is Carmilla’s hand around her arm, steadying her. It’s been an hour and she’s had about 2 jungle juices and 3 shots of tequila, and she isn’t stopping anytime soon.
“I think you should sit down, creampuff.” Carmilla says firmly, guiding her to the couch. “No!” Laura shouts, pulling her towards the dance floor. “Dance with me!” She loops her arms around Carmilla’s neck, their bodies pressed together in the middle of the crowded dance floor as the dj starts a new song. Laura sways her hips and bobs her head in time to the beat, grinning at Carmilla who’s smirking at her. She steps back and throws her hands in the air, recognizing the song. “KICK OUT THE EPIC MOTHERFUCKER!” She shouts, jumping up and down, making Carmilla laugh.
They dance like that, hips grinding against one another, hands exploring places they never dared to touch before. Laura feels her face heating up, from the alcohol and from the way Carmilla’s touching her. Carmilla has her eyes closed, swaying her head, one hand in the air, the other on Laura’s waist. Laura takes this opportunity to stare at h
