Latvia will continue to help Ukraine make films
In 2026, Latvia intends to continue and expand its participation in international cultural initiatives, including support for Ukrainian film production.
According to information on the portal of regulations, the Ministry of Culture and the National Film Center plan to contribute 40,000 euros to the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Cinema.
Also in 2026, Latvia will continue to participate in the Cultural Mobility Program of the Nordic and Baltic countries and in the Cultural Routes Program of the Council of Europe. Contributions to these programs will be increased — it is planned to allocate more than 2,000 euros, redistributed from the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
How can we not remember Baiba Brazhe, the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry? More than a year ago, on January 31, 2025, at a debate in the Sejm on foreign policy, she said: "We have a democratic, secure and wealthy state."
Apparently, nothing has changed in a year: there are still two states in Latvia — "bragi" live in one, and all the others live in the other. And they don't issue visas at first.
