Raquel Pomplun from Chula Vista, California, was announced as Playboy's new Playmate of the Year on Thursday.
In keeping with tradition, the 25-year-old, who was raised in Tijuana, Mexico, and studied biochemistry at Southwestern College, was awarded $100,000 in prize money as well as a one-year lease on a 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE.
What's more, the model, who is also classically trained as a ballerina, proudly made history as the first-ever Mexican-American woman to be given the honor.

Breaking records: The five-foot-six model, who was raised in Tijuana, Mexico, is the first Mexican-American to receive the honor
'I can't begin to describe how excited I am to receive this honor and be given the opportunity to represent Playboy as its first Mexican-American Playmate of the Year,' she announced in a statement.
'Playboy has taught me a side of myself I didn't know before,' she added. 'It's been a year of wonderful surprises!'
Ms Pomplun looked stunning as she posed for a black-and-white photo shoot at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles to mark the occasion.
The 25-year-old donned a floor-length white gown with a cut-out back for her shoot, her dark hair pulled back in a braided bun.

In one image, the brunette reclines on a couch and gleefully kicks her heel into the air; another shot sees her being fitted with a necklace bearing the iconic Playboy bunny.
Ms Pomplun appears on the cover of Playboy's June issue, as well as an eight-page spread within the magazine.
In an interview with E! Online , she explained that she was proud of the images for more reason than one.
'Honestly, I'm thinking I'm so grateful that they look OK because I had a fever in these pictures,' she told her interviewer at the ceremony, which took place in the gardens of Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion.

Ms Pomplun wore a different floor-length white gown to the cocktail luncheon celebrating her new title, which was passed down to her from 2012 Playmate Jaclyn Swedberg.
Her dress was accented with bright streaks of color, a jeweled empire line and a chic cut-out at the back and sides.
The model couldn't contain her excitement as she posed alongside her shiny new Jaguar, the car that was given to her as a prize along with her new title.

According to AOL , the tradition of giving the Playmate of the Year a car began in 1964, when Ford gave then-winner Donna Michelle a bright pink mustang.
Playboy owner Hugh Hefner, 87, was on hand with his 27-year-old wife Crystal Harris to award Ms Pomplun with the title.
The sprightly CEO wore a white suit with a pink shirt underneath as he gave a speech to congratulate the new Playmate, gifting her with a special framed copy of her magazine cover.

Ms Pomplun is the 54th Playmate of the Year, representing a tradition that first began in 1960.
She is currently the host of Blackbelt TV's Rockin' Rounds, and also co-hosts Playboy Radio's show, Playmates Present.
As part of her new position, she has also taken a starring role in Jaguar's new commercial for the F-type model.
