I wish I could read the linear notes to this one, but I guess that's one of the downers of the download era. I'm curious as to where this band is really from - Italy might be right on, but they also flirt with French sounds a bit too much. But one thing's for certain - they're not really Brazilian, even though they definitely channel that aspect of "Latin" music. I first heard them on the Cafe Samba and other varese compilations and figured it'd be worth giving a few whirls. And to be honest, it's not a bad album. I do think the group could be Italian - some of the songs remind me of what you'd expect to hear on a Sister Bossa album. The album starts out nice enough with A Force De Viver, before moving into an old Caetano Veoloso track, which was pretty cute. Pra Voce is nice as well - I actually like this particular singer in the group - reminds me a little of Toco. "You Make My Day" was also ok, and "Saturday Evening" was also rather quaint. "Sunset on Ipanema beach" is loaded with what I can only call a sort of 'latin music cliche'. Hard to explain but when you hear it, you'll understand -it's not a bad thing, it's a sort of dreamy song. But outside of these songs, a lot of the tracks on display were IMO largely forgettable. The highlights to this album were definitely on the various compilations from the label. I'd recommend downloading some of the stronger songs, like "Beijo Na Boca". There's just too much filler here and a lot of the 'latin ambiance' is so forced! The cuica, etc. And you really hear the accent in "Nada Importa". Anyways, they kind of remind me of a less jazzed up version of Los Ladrones, a group from about 2001 or so. Not a bad album, but nothing really ground-breaking or phenomenal here.
