Frequently Asked Questions about Latin House
Established in 2021. The original dream was to have a food truck but after one food trucking weekend we decided we wanted to plant roots right here in Cincinnati. Our head chef, Ray, and his wife, Michelle, both have a passion for cooking. Ray comes from Miami, Florida and brought his love of Cuban food with him. We have limited experience in the restaurant business but want nothing more than to share a taste of Cuba with you. Please be patient with us as we renovate, open, and get the hang of things. We'd love honest, helpful, good or constructive feedback as we learn and grow. …
Yes! We opened on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021.

We came while Oktober fest was going and it was close, so we came back last weekend and it was worth it. At first it was awkward because no other parties were there, nevertheless, the owner (I think) made us feel welcomed right away. We ordered a cafe cubano, a chicken sandwich with plátano frito, and a steak that came with tostones and arroz congri. It was all delicious. The beef was perfectly cocked and so was the sandwich, both seemed freshly made. Also when I asked for spicy sauce they brought one that was homemade and it was the best. Great quality, friendly service and great price. Definitely worth going!
This place is a Gem! It's like a home away from home, my home town of Miami Florida (Hialeah to be exact)! The Cuban sandwich at Latin House is actually better than Miami style because they leave a little fatty layer with the meat which gives that extra juiciness. I'm on the road traveling often and one sip of the Cuban Colada made me feel I was transported back to South Florida LOL! I don't review much but when I do it's significant! Sorry I just have my Colada Pic to show. I ate my sandwich too quickly.
Very disappointed.... I was downtown having a drink at Arnold's (who were rude, but that's for another review) and wanted to try Latin house which is just around the corner.... Bad decision I LOVE Spanish croquettes and was looking forward to trying some from Latin house - so I ordered the croquettes, a couple of potato ball things, a grilled chicken sandwich and then was tempted By the meat Pastilito in the cabinet by the checkout Maybe it was the beer but I forgot my own mantra of 'never buy anything from a display cabinet" And I was right - the 'meat' pastillo 'thing' was awful... 95% pastry, but not just that, there was a really odd taste to it, maybe it was just the grease !! But literally after pulling it apart there was a little sad dollop.. no not even a dollop of something that looked like meat. Now I know this is supposed to be Cuban and not Spanish, but surely Cubans have better taste than this, the croquettes were so salty I could forget traveling to the Dead Sea.... I would've Floated in the Ohio river ! On to the potato balls - OK. And that's all I have to say about that. Maybe some seasoning ? Then the chicken sandwich - my wife said begrudgingly' 'it's ok". But it wasn't It was rubbery bread filled with a measly piece of chicken and whatever else.. but again it had that odd taste which I can't put my finger on, but then again I will keep my fingers And my wallet far from the Latin house
A great addition to downtown Cincinnati! The owner is super friendly. The Cubans are delicious and on par with Cubans from Miami. The Cuban soda, Materva, is good if you like cream soda. Get there early if you want to try the pastries.
A little gem of a place downtown that's perfect for lunch if you work in the vicinity. I hadn't tried Cuban food before and everything was a revelation. The plantain chips and the Cuban sandwich were both stellar and I'm excited to try the other items on the menu. Speaking with the owner I was told everything is made in house and it shows. Great addition to the Cincy food scene!
AZUCAR! I randomly ran into Latin House. I was asking down the freezing streets of Cincy and saw the Cuban flags. I took a loot at the menu and saw options for me, I'm pescatarian! I walked in and was greeted rifhr away and instantly felt welcomed. it's the Cuban way! The customer in front of me was having a snack and commenting on it and was instantly drawn to making my taste buds go crazy. She was having a Pastelito de guayaba! 2 please! Thanks! I ordered the blacked shrimp ceviche and tostones to go. While I waited I was offered a nice hot Cafe Bustello expresso and that coated my insides like a hot summer cuba day. I got to my hotel and couldn't open the food fast enough. The walk back to my hotel was air filled with the aroma of the food. I kid you not, it smelt SO GOOD! MIA, LET ME TELL YOU THIS FOOD WAS BOMB! I am sad I didn't just get a whole meal. I thought it was just going to be a snack and I am still full, hours later! I definitely recommend Latin House! I will definitely go here next time I'm in Cincinnati! ¡Ve a Latin House y disfruta de esta deliciosa comida! Buen Provecho!!
Wow amazing food I was so hungry I forgot to take photos. Took my son and friend for lunch as a Cuban-American is hard to find a good authentic Cuban place in Ohio. The owner and chef is a local transplant from my hometown Miami Florida. So you know getting the real deal on Cuban food. I know will definitely go back and try other amazing food. What my son got was the Cuban sandwich and black beans and rice. He said was amazing hit the stop for him. Please try these place out you will not regret.
This was recommended by a local and it didn't disappoint. The owner was there and was very engaging and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. You should check them out when you are downtown.
Don't be fooled by the bare bones interior. Latin House is turning out some seriously delicious food! I visited for lunch with a friend and we couldn't have been more pleased. We started with a chicken empanada and a potato ball to split. The empanada pastry was a beautiful golden brown, not at all greasy, with a lovely chicken filling. The potato ball was a thing of wonder. Baseball-sized, it's made from fluffy mashed potatoes mixed with three cheeses, stuffed with a super flavorful ground beef mixture, rolled in bread crumbs and deep fried. One is more than enough to share between two people who ooohed and ahhhed their way through it. I went with the Cuban sandwich paired with red beans and rice for my main course. Again, everything was delicious and I was happy be able to bring about half home for my husband to enjoy. My friend had the Havana Special, which was two fried eggs served on a veritable mountain of perfectly cooked rice. It also came with toast and she added the steak on the side. She said it was great. We both had a really good Cafe con Leche to wash it down. Looking forward to seeing what they do and coming back to try other dishes!
The sandwiches were delicious. I got the Cuban, and it was crispy perfection. My son enjoyed his steak. The fries were really good, and the cafe con leche was lovely. The dining room is a bit bare bones, but the food makes it tolerable.
