Prepare to set aside at least an hour of your time to install LaTeX. You should also be on campus or using a high-speed internet connection, since you will have to download a large file. You need to install two different parts, a LaTeX compiler (MiKTeX) and an editor (TeXstudio).
Once the files have been extracted, the window will close.

TeXstudio is a nice LaTeX editor software for Windows 11/10. It has all the good features that you must be looking for in a LaTeX editor. Some of its features to mention include advanced syntax highlighting, interactive spell checker, reference checker, auto-completion, and more. It has an integrated PDF viewer with word-level syncing, live-updating inline preview, and tooltip preview for images. You can insert 1000s of mathematical symbols, graphics, tables, formulas, etc. It comes with a table-autoformatter feature to align the table code.
You can easily find out the LaTeX errors and warnings in the editor. It supports various LaTeX compilers, bibliography and glossary tools, Latexmk, etc.
It has both portable and installer packages that you can download from sourceforge.net .
LyX is a document processor with support for TeX/LaTeX. It supports the creation of mathematical, scientific, and technical documents and comes with an integrated equation editor. You get a reference list, index, and other scientific authoring features in it. You can save your output in PDF or simply print the document. It is simple and effective and is based on the WYSIWYM approach.
TeXnic is a free and open source LaTeX editor software for Windows. It is a powerful editor with features like auto-completion, integrated LaTeX environment, easy document navigation options, UTF-8 support, mathematical symbols, table and image insertion features, and more. You can run your source code and view the output in its inbuilt viewer with forward and inverse search features. It lets you preview the output in PDF or DVI format.
TeXworks is a lightweight free LaTeX editor for Windows. You can simply write your scientific document and compile it. The output is displayed in an integrated PDF viewer. Notepad++ is a popular text and source code editor that you can use to create LaTeX documents. You can open, edit, and save LaTeX files in it. It is easy and simple and has syntax highlighting, code folding, auto completion, and more features. It can render the output in HTML. WinShell is another good LaTeX editor with integrated TeX and LaTeX document development environment. To name a few features of this software, there are mathematical tools, syntax highlighting, auto-completion, spell checking, table wizard, Unicode support, etc. It also comes with Bibliography Editor and Project management environment features.
The only letdown is that it doesn’t come with an integrated PDF viewer. However, you can use some other PDF viewer application installed on your system to view your document.
TexitEasy is a free, open-source, and cross-platform LaTeX editor software. In it, you can find features like full syntactic coloration, command completion, search with regex, autodetect master file, editor splitter, view error and warnings in the code, etc. It has an integrated PDF viewer to view output LaTeX documents with auto-sync scrolling and reverse sync.
AUCTeX can be another alternative to a free LaTeX editor for Windows 10. You can easily write or edit LaTeX documents in it and then compile them. The post-compilation document can be previewed in PDF, PostScript, or DVI format.
One more LaTeX editor for Windows 10 on this list is RTextDoc . It is based on the WYSIWYG approach and provides you an integrated environment to create LaTeX and AsciiDoc documents. It has standard features like syntax highlighting, auto-completion, code folding, etc. You can also find a built-in PDF viewer in it.
