Американскую певицу Лану Дель Рей обвинили в дискриминации цветных людей из‑за обложки ее грядущего альбома «Chemtrails Over the Country Club», которую артистка опубликовала в своем инстаграме 11 января.
На обложке Лана запечатлена в окружении своих, как выяснилось позднее, близких подруг, среди которых не оказалось ни одной темнокожей девушки. Подписчики певицы, не знавшие о принципе выбора моделей для фотографии, осудили отсутствие на ней разнообразных лиц.
Из‑за этого Дель Рей пришлось объясняться перед поклонниками. «Это не было намеренно, здесь мои лучшие друзья, раз уж вы спрашиваете», — пояснила артистка. Также она отметила, что на фото все же есть цветные люди: ее подруги Валери, Алекс, Дакота и Татьяна, имеющие мексиканские корни.
«Мы все — прекрасная смесь всего. Некоторые более, чем другие, и это заметно, и отмечается во всем, что я делаю. За 11 лет работы я всегда была чрезвычайно инклюзивной, даже не стремясь таковой быть», — написала Дель Рей.
Певица подчеркнула, что у нее есть друзья из разных стран мира, а некоторые ее бойфренды были рэперами.
«Прежде чем вы снова сделаете комментарии по поводу проблемы цветных людей: я не тот, кто штурмует столицу, я буквально меняю мир, выкладывая свою жизнь, мысли и любовь на стол 24 часа 7 дней в неделю. Уважайте это», — добавила Дель Рей.
Впрочем, поклонников не успокоили слова певицы. Они посчитали, что та сосредоточилась на своей фигуре и «хрупкости белых», вместо того чтобы принять критику и обсудить проблему разнообразия.
«Я знаю, что она не расистка и не сторонница Трампа, но она так невежественна и становится жестокой, когда цветные люди критикуют ее, вместо того чтобы послушать их. Это так раздражает», — заявил один из подписчиков.
В мае 2020 года Лана Дель Рей уже была вынуждена защищаться от обвинений в расизме после того, как оставила противоречивые комментарии о темнокожих артистках, в том числе о Карди Би, Ариане Гранде, Бейонсе и Ники Минаж.
Тогда Дель Рей пожаловалась, что ее осуждают за песни о том, как быть чувственной, сильной и самодостаточной женщиной, делающей то, что она хочет, — но подобных комментариев не получают другие артистки с треками, посвященными сексуальности.

А свою толерантность к цветным людям музыкант подтвердила в ходе благотворительной акции: в ноябре Дель Рей перечислила аванс за свою книгу «Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass» в пользу фонда, помогающего индейскому народу навахо.
