Lajohntay Wester Commits to Texas Football

BREAKING NEWS: Lajohntay Wester, Rising High School Football Star, Commits to University of Texas

Houston, TX – April 27, 2025 – In a major win for the University of Texas Longhorns, four-star wide receiver Lajohntay Wester has officially announced his commitment to play college football in Austin. The standout athlete from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, made the announcement live on ESPN this afternoon, ending months of speculation.

Wester, a dynamic playmaker known for his speed, route-running, and clutch performances, had offers from over 20 Division I programs, including Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU. However, the 6'1', 185-pound receiver ultimately chose Texas, citing the program's strong offensive scheme and family-like culture as key factors in his decision.

'I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Big 12, and Texas feels like home,' Wester said during the broadcast. 'Coach [Steve] Sarkisian has a great vision for the offense, and I believe I can make an immediate impact.'

Wester’s high school career has been nothing short of spectacular. Last season, he racked up 1,450 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, leading Shadow Creek to a state semifinal appearance. His ability to create separation and make contested catches has drawn comparisons to NFL star DeAndre Hopkins.

With Wester’s commitment, Texas secures one of the top offensive weapons in the 2025 recruiting class. Longhorns fans are already buzzing with excitement, hoping he’ll be a key piece in their quest for a national championship.
