My Recommendations: Do I advise anyone to buy this? I am going to have to say no. Yes it is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and purchase a blow dryer with attachments or a pack of combs.
Here is a day time look that is soft and can work on any complexion. This look was created using various shades of brown and gold. ** Tip** Do you have a gold shadow that doesn't really shows on your eyelids? Try using a dark base on your lid like a black or gray eyeliner.
I still remember the moment I fell in love with makeup. It's not to say that I haven't always liked makeup. In high school, I thought I was doing it with my heavy brown lip-liner and gold lipstick. So yeah, I wore it but I didn't appreciate it. No, the moment I had a mental orgasm was back in 2003 at Pembroke Lakes Mall. I was preparing for a party that my now husband (then, boy toy) and our good friend was throwing. I had a beautiful lime-green controversial top on and my hair was on point. All that was missing was my face. After all, if I wanted the ladies who would be at the party to hate, I needed the entire ensemble flawless.
I stopped at the Mac counter in Macy's, showed the makeup artist what I was planning to wear, and I closed my eyes thinking that it would be a normal day to day look. But when I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror, I realized that I had received much more than I expected. I thought that all I needed was foundation, lip-gloss, and mascara. Boy was I was wrong? A makeup primer ... isn't primer for the walls? A highlighter ... like when I study? I thought I was good with just two brushes - blush and shadow. Silly rabbit! The next thing you know, I purchased everything the artist used on me. From that moment on, makeup has been my addiction. Am I a professional makeup artist? By no means. Over the years, I have taught myself the tricks of the trade. I would frequent various makeup counters to see the latest products and I would scour hair and fashion magazines for ideas and inspirations. My makeup collection grew from 6 shades to 100. Then, in 2005, YouTube.com was launched and I was able to watch live tutorials. I don't claim to be the "best" because I am learning something everyday. But I think I am good enough to offer advice and share my creations. What's in Lady Provocateur's future? First, I need to expand my fan base (not that I appreciate you guys) and I am doing so via Facebook. Soon, I hope to be able to purchase a better video camera for live tutorials and a better digital camera for the still. I bought it for less than $6.00. It is a versatile product offering precise cutting and styling, while it detangles and straightens and conditions and shines. A lot of promises for what I considered to be a cheap product. But I was intrigued by these expectations and gave it a shot.
First Impressions: To me it was cheap looking. It barely weighed anything so my confidence level dropped. There was no fancy packaging, so you pay for the product and not the glitz and glam. In my mind if this is something that boasts about its straightening abilities, shouldn't it be a tad bit heavier.
De-Virginizing: Jadis has reached the age where “blow-dry” and “flat iron” are in her vocabulary. Blame it on her momma. So it only made sense to test this product on her hair. Her hair is weird – curly, yet wavy. A combination of a country-bama and a black Hispanic. She is two and I have blow dried her hair only once before. I figured that there is nothing liker her looking like a big girl once in a while.
Her hair is wet – combed out with leave in conditioner. I sit her down in front of me. Blow dryer in one hand and this new contraption in the other. The instructions are very basic. In the picture you can see that the comb stays open in a “v” shape. During blow drying, you are suppose to close the ends and comb the hair from root to end. Sounds easy.
The Results: Now why didn’t I take before and after pictures? It's not too bad. I felt awkward holding the comb. I'm guessing it is something I have to get use to. I did develop a cramp in my hand, indications that I may not have been holding the comb right. Jadis' hair came out good. It did not look any different than when I blow dried it before. I honestly did not see the difference between a rat tail comb or brush while blow drying.
