We stopped here because our guide book recommended it. Menu is on a board. Non-English menu but then we are in France. Think it was the owner who came over and helped us out. We went for the fixed price two course menu. Vegetable salad,... foie gras and duck steaks and mushroom omelette. Boys had steak and duck breast. They mixed up our starters and we got someone else’s duck liver and salmon starter. We thought we had misunderstood but after eating half of it the manager came over and explained and gave them us on the house and our original order! All the food was excellent. Yes we had a more than usual wait between courses but with the good wine (2 starters) and people watching it was no problem. Steak was slightly overcooked than requested.Gorgeous calorific potatoes and fresh salad. We left very satisfied, licking our lips and heading back for a siesta. More
This place was super busy when we came for lunch, and there is a reason why. Food was fantastic, the cassoulet was honestly the best I’ve ever tasted, great meats and the right portion too. The menus are such a good value for money. The... staff was lovely and very attentive to our needs. Highly recommend More
To summarize the experience, it took almost an hour for the waiters to take our order and another hour for the orders to start arriving. Some of us received the food only 2 1/2 hours after we arrived at the restaurant! Food was mediocre at... best.

Now for the details: We passed by this restaurant in the morning and made a reservation for the evening. We arrived on time and were seated in the back room upstairs. It took about 20 minutes for a waiter to arrive but because she did not understand English, she said she would send her colleague who does. It took another 20 minutes until her colleague arrived and he took the order.
Another 20 minutes passed and the first waiter returned and needed to confirm the entire order because of things that were not clear to her colleague who took the order.
We now entered a long stretch of almost an hour’s wait. The starters began arriving but only for some of the diners whereas the others had to continue their wait.
The entrées began arriving only after about two hours. And even then only for some of the diners. One of us was informed that they are out of what he ordered and will receive something else without even asking him what he would like as a replacement. Another one of us received the food only after 2 1/2 hours when all of the other diners had already completed their meals. The desserts never arrived.
As for the food, there was significant variance in its quality. A few of us liked the dishes whereas others had a mediocre to bad experience. One of the dishes was cold and seemed as if it was heated in the microwave. The duck was a bit dry, the steak was oily and salty. The potatoes were good.

The waiters half heartedly apologized for the long wait and removed the child’s meal from the bill, but it didn’t seem as if they realize the extent to which the service was bad. We will not be returning to this place. More
Around the corner from the Cathedral and Tourist information office on a lovely street less crowded than many sits a culinary gem of the regional cuisine with special touches and variety. Small, with extra friendly service and amazingly reasonable prices for the quality, the kitchen... is what truly sparkles. The salad with the walnut vinaigrette followed by the best cassoulet in a perfect serving size and dish was one of our best meals in Sarlat. Their variation on the goose parmentier is also worth exploring. Returned and only wish we could keep returning. More
We chose this restaurant for lunch while wandering around Sarlat, no research, just liked the look of the place and the menus on offer. I choose the ‘marche’ menu, 3 courses for 17 euros and my partner chose one ‘plat’ which was a salad with... the lot (she loves the ‘gesiers’). My entree was a huge salad, followed by rolled pork with beautifully cooked potatoes and a creamy sauce, then I had the walnut cake with cream. I could scarcely finish, very generous and excellent food. My partners salad was similarly generous and delicious. Finished with coffees. Good service, couldn’t fault it. Just be prepared for a big feed! More
The food was great! I would strongly recommend cassoulet, foie gras, and confit de canard.

Two things though: the restaurant is located quite close to the south entrance to the town, so the tables get occupied very quickly. So arriving early is a good idea.... Also, the service is not the fastest i have even seen. So plan for enough time if you want to enjoy. More
We had lunch and dinner here during a three day stay in Sarlat; Both were reasonably priced, the salads were very generous and despite it being a very touristy town, their quality and prices compared well with those in our local restos (Aveyron) which in... other respects are much more inexpensive.

Despite it being high season, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the place had the nice feeling of a pavement resto in a bustling tourist town More
Having looked at all the menus available in Sarlat we decided to eat at this restaurant as it had a slightly different menu. We had the menu Sud-Ouest, I had the vegetarian salad and my husband had the geisier salad, then we both had the... fabulous cassoulet. It was a great meal. The restaurant was very popular with the French customers, generally a good sign. More
Having been happy with the food in France thus far, we overwhelmed by the quality of food and the gracious reception at La Petite Borie in Sarlat-le Caneda. My wife and I shared the La belle assiette du Perigord. For the money, I feel this... has been the best value for the money meal I have had in France to date. More
We were unsure of this choice for dinner based on prior reviews but took a chance and were glad we did.The simple garlic soup was a nice change. The cassoulet really hit the spot and the scallops were also good and fresh.

Service was professional and... timely even though it was quite a busy evening.Recommend! More

A Bordeaux Blend , at its most basic, is any combination of those grape varieties typically used to make the red wines of Bordeaux . The phrase, which seems to have originated with British wine merchants in the 19th Century, relates as much to wines made from the blend as to the grape variety combi...
