LND Anchor Output Errors - Fix Reserve and CPFP Fee Bumping Issues

What Are LND Anchor Output Errors?

Anchor outputs are reserved UTXOs on commitment transactions that allow fee bumping via CPFP after a force-close. Errors occur when anchor reserves are depleted or CPFP fails.

Common Errors

  • insufficient reserve for anchor output
  • anchor output fee bumping failed
  • cannot afford anchor channel reserve
  • anchor sweep transaction not confirmed

Fix: Check Wallet Balance

lncli walletbalance
# Ensure confirmed_balance covers anchor reserves
# LND requires ~10k sats per anchor channel in on-chain wallet

Fix: CPFP the Anchor

# List pending sweeps
lncli pendingsweeps

# Bump fee on anchor UTXO
lncli wallet bumpfee --sat_per_vbyte 20 <txid>:<output_index>

Fix: Fund Your On-Chain Wallet

# Get deposit address
lncli newaddress p2wkh

# Send at least 50k sats to cover multiple anchor channels
# Minimum recommended: 10k sats * number of channels

Prevention

  • Keep 50k+ sats on-chain per node with anchor channels
  • Monitor with: lncli listchannels | grep anchor
  • Set --min-relay-fee-rate appropriately
  • Use lncli wallet bumpfee to manually CPFP stuck anchors
