When I got my one on one with Nick he was able to show me what I needed to see, and teach me things I was hoping to learn while continuing to entertain everyone at the counter. At no point did I feel like he was trying to sell me anything which of course made me eager to buy stuff. The real magic at Fantasma is the people who work there. This is a really fun hidden gen in midtown Manhattan. Not only is it a magic shop but it is also a Houdini museum. The entrance to the building is a bit strange as it is an office building and you have to bring ID to sign in and get a visitor pass. Head up to the 3rd floor and enter the magic shop. The guys working there know their stuff and are very eager to teach a trick or two. They even have magic classes. Magician or not this is a great place to hang out in! Whenever I walk into the store there is always someone demonstrating magic usually someone with great talent and I always get to see people having a blast. I love it here because I get to hang out with people with the same passion as mine and we jam all day. Great place to go and buy magic tricks! I was in the City and have never been to a Magic Store in my life before. So I found this greatly rated place which I loved already before entering it. The welcoming 'Lady' already gives you the magical feeling before you even go into the store. The store is museum and magic shop in one. You get everything your heart desires at this cool place! A lot of street magicians meet and practice here so there is a chance that you could see some live magic in here. Here is trixie, the cutest magic bunny in the world! And the bonus of being so close-up to Houdini artifacts was very, very cool What an incredible hidden gem. The owners do incredible magic as examples and then should how to do it with little kits they sell. The Houdini museum is attached to it and is full of curious magic paraphernalia. Definitely worth the trip. What a great spot! Real artifacts from Harry Houdini hang upon the walls and is the largest public collection of artifacts in the US. This also doubles as a magic shop, and nick the guy behind the counter did a fantastic job of doing tricks and keeping people well entertained. For a small place, you can drop a shocking amount of time here! If you have kids that are into this kind of stuff and are in NYC - do yourself and them a favor and bring them here. This is a wonderful museum and well worth visiting. Our five year old son recently got really into magic and, so took him in. We had the best time watching magic tricks and looking around. I decided to stop by because I wanted to see the Houdini pieces well worth it! Nick was behind the counter and was knowledgeable and engaging. At first it was just the two of us talking shop so to speak because we were the only ones in the shop. After a bit three to four different groups of families with kids came in, and Nick went into demonstrator mode- engaging the kids, showing them effects, and really providing great advice for what tricks would be a good fit.
