This year again we will face current and future challenges of transportation with a focus on digitalisation in the railway sector and the European Year of Rail. This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation between European, but also international, railway companies and an important key to setting the course for sustainability and this event will be included into the official calendar of the European Year of Rail. The International Railway Congress will have numerus high-level representatives from Railway Operators, government, and industry. It would be an honour to have you present at the International Railway Congress and discuss the most recent developments with-in the railway sector. Only if rail transport becomes more attractive, customers will choose rail. Currently, there is potential for the rail freight sector to deliver the aspired modal shift. The modal shift can only be realized by fully leveraging technology. The targets of the green deal can only be achieved by deploying key technologies for a modern, digitized railway system in Europe — thereby ensuring sufficient capacity and easier access to capacity as well as better products for the benefit of customers and society at large. Digitized and connected economies, new technologies, the logistics of the future as a market advantage and an integrated international transport chain from Europe to China by rail will provide positive impulses for European Economies, strengthen the industrial location and create additional jobs as well as secure existing ones. The International Railway Congress, organized by PPV Consulting, aims to raise awareness among Austrian companies, technology providers and suppliers of the resulting economic and ecological opportunities of the digitalisation of the railway sector. The presence of international C-Level representatives and decision-makers from industry, business and politics will give our economies new impulses. The 2.
