Casablanca restaurant closed down after drugs found on premises

Closed: an image tweeted by Hackney Council shows the restaurant being shut down. A Caribbean restaurant in Dalston was temporarily closed down this week after a police search found drugs on the premises. Casablanca, a takeaway on Sandringham Road, had its alcohol license suspended last Wednesday after police obtained a search warrant and found class A and B drugs at the property. The restaurant will now remain closed until the court hearing on 4 August when the future of the restaurant will be decided. That same week an application was also made by Mr and Mrs Cameron of Sandringham Road who requested an extension of the supply of alcohol and recorded music until 4 am. The coronavirus outbreak meant that the Hackney Citizen was unable to print a monthly newspaper for three months. We're grateful that we have since been able to resume printing. This would not have been possible without the generosity of our readers, whose donations kept the paper from disappearing completely at a distressing time for residents.
