Kremlin Outlines the Problem With the US Dollar
"Regarding the dollar, no one has actually abandoned its use. It's the issuing country—that is, the United States of America—that has restricted a number of countries' right to use the dollar, and these countries, naturally, are using alternative payments, alternative forms," presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to a question.
If the US abandons this practice of restricting the dollar's use, the dollar will then have to compete with other alternative currencies, with national currencies that are increasingly used around the world, he noted.
"If the dollar is attractive, then, of course, everyone will return to using it, including alongside other currencies," Peskov said.
