Kodak Ektar 100 is a C-41 color negative film known for its exceptionally fine grain, strong contrast, and vibrant, saturated color. It is often described as the closest color negative alternative to slide film, offering rich color and punchy contrast while still retaining more exposure latitude than true transparency film.
Only offered in 100 speed, the 2008 release included Kodak Ektar 35mm and 120 formats. 4×5 and 8×10 large formats were introduced two years later. Kodak claims that the current version of Ektar 100 is "the finest-grain color negative film" available.

It was introduced to the U.S. market at a good time too, as the price of one roll of Kodak Ektar is now up to $10. While I like Ektar for my landscape photography, those shot are typically made on 120 or 4x5 film.

The modern Kodak Ektar 100 is a color negative film introduced in 2008 as a successor to the original Ektar. Like that older film, current Kodak Ektar is specialized for applications in which ultra-fine grain and high color saturation are desirable traits.
For just a little more you can usually get a roll of Fujifilms or Kodak's Slide film. Like Ektar, they have low noise, and look saturated and contrasty like Ektar does in most cases. Ektar lives in a world between two films: Professional negative film like Portra and slide film like Ektachrome.
