Both anterior knee pain and loose patella can be present simultaneously. Some patients who have successfully undergone surgery for a loose kneecap, but a so-called MPFL reconstruction and thereby obtained a stable kneecap, develop anterior knee pain in the aftermath and this is often due to the fact that they have inward pointing kneecaps.
