Kira, now free of her bonds, fled to the Crystal Chamber. Her Sacrifice The Skeksis, Mystics and Gelfling all converged in the Crystal Chamber as the three suns aligned overhead. The Skeksis spotted Kira and Jen and called on the Garthim to attack. As Jen tried to escape a Garthim attack, he jumped onto the Dark Crystal and dropped the shard.
The Gelflings make their way to a hall overlooking the crystal chamber, where the Skeksis gather for the conjunction ceremony. When the Skeksis spot them and order the Garthim to attack, Jen leaps onto the crystal but drops the shard. Kira glides down to the chamber, grabs the shard and throws it to Jen before the High Priest stabs her fatally.
The Dark Crystal, a fantasy film, chronicles the journey of the Gelfling, Jen, in his quest to fulfil an ancient Prophecy. All the while, the peaceful Mystics and the cruel Skeksis carry out the rituals that signal the coming of the Great Conjunction... Another world. Another time. In the Age of Wonder...
The next morning, Kira and Jen discover the runes of the ancient homes that their ancestors came from and learn through the runes that the shard they have is a piece broken off from the dark crystal and that Jen has to use the shard to heal it.
