Everything went really smooth! Got my order fast, received it according to the expected date. Nicely and safely packaged too ^^. I used to buy the brazilian hair products but seem to always get dandruff etc from it. Decided to go back those and I feel like this will be my go-2 product now. I’ve got 3c high porosity hair, so the texture of this is perfect for mine! Ofcourse the application is important too; good leave-in first then apply this and seal it with scenty oil.

Edit: Figured out my day 2 and 3 curls. I wet my hair with a spray bottle. Apply Curls Blueberry Bliss and scrunch, then apply a thin amount of gel with prayer hands and scrunch again. Love this gel. For reference I have low density, fine, wavy-curly hair. I am mixed with Italian and black and my hair frizz is extremely hard to tame. I live in Georgia with humidity and semi hard water. Now on to the review. I had been using the Kinky Curly shampoo and Knot Today leave-in for a couple of months and really liked the products, so decided to try out the gel. Turns out these are some of the best curls I have ever gotten. I washed with Come Clean, deep conditioned with Deva Curl Heaven in Hair, added Knot Today leave in and then applied the curling custard. The gel goes on smooth and left me with no wet frizz. It dried into a cast that was easy to break and left my hair soft and moisturized. The gel texture resembles flaxseed gel so it is somewhat wet and slippery which I think helps it blend into my hair better than any other gel I've used before (which includes Shea, Mixed Chicks, Curls Blueberry Bliss, Aussie, Garnier, Eco Styler). It just glided on. For this specific photo I actually washed my hair in the night, and wrapped it with a silk scarf while it was still half wet and could already feel the cast. In the morning I undid my wrap and shook the hair out to break the cast and voila! Big spiral curls. They we're so beautiful. I honestly wasn't expecting these results. In this pic I didn't style upside down (I did side ways) which is why my roots are not springy, but that was on purpose as I wanted to wear my hair half up half down with a relatively smooth top. In the end the curls lasted about 75% of the day, which is great. I was out and about at the park and my son tussles my hair a lot. Very satisfied. I haven't been able to figure out the next day curls yet, but I am super happy with the wash day results and am pretty sure I can figure out how to work this into 3 days without washing. This gel doesn't dry my curls.

I don't think I've seen any reviews that factor climate into the effectiveness of this product, but trust me - if you have highly porous hair (like I do) and you live in a high-altitude or an extremely humid climate, this product may present some problems for you. Since the product relies exclusively on the humectants for moisture and softness (there are no oils in it), the amount of water in the atmosphere will determine whether or not this product moisturizes effectively. If you live in an extremely dry climate, your hair will be extremely dry because there is so little moisture in the atmosphere. If you live in a very humid climate, then your hair might be limp or extremely puffy and difficult to style because of the moisture overload. Also, having too much water in your hair at all times could weaken the strands and cause them to break. So, if your area has climate extremes, you might want to avoid this product. I live in Southern California, so the weather isn't that big a factor for me. That being said, while I consider this product EXTREMELY expensive, it is something I would use again, just because it works very nicely for me and has helped me retain significant length (my hair is 4b). I use this as a hold product, rather than a curl definer. I apply the product, braid or twist my hair and let it dry. I find that I get really good hold, my hair is extremely hydrated because of the intense humectant properties, and I get lots of volume. There is some crunch, but I'm conditioned to believe that crunch = lasting hold, so I don't mind. Even in comfortably moist weather, It might not work for everyone for a variety of other reasons, largely because everyone's idea of a good hair day is different. Some people want their curls to be completely and totally defined at all times (I don't - I like some frizz). Some people hate crunchiness (I don't mind it). Others complain about shrinkage (eh - what can you do?). No one product can satisfy everyone's individual concept of "dream" hair, but for the amount of money this costs, it's not unreasonable to expect greatness. I would say that if the $20+ price tag doesn't bother you, you don't have any exalted expectations and you live in a mild climate, then give it a try. Otherwise, Ecostyler gel mixed with curl activator works pretty similarly and costs less than half as much.

Only gel I use on my 4c curls

I used this years ago and disliked it until I worked out how to use it, now it's a staple and only product I use unless my make my own flaxseed gel. The key is to use with the kinky curly knot today leave in. I use a small amount of leave in but ensure my curls are covered. I know they are covered when I feel they are all soft and not dry from shampoo or clay rinse. Then I put my head under water for 2 seconds to allow my hair to drip. It may seem as if I am washing off the leave in but you're not and this stops the foamy film you see when you use too much. Then I use the custard, little at a time in sections by smoothing through and raking. Afterwards, I use a bit of water in hand to also ensure coverage of gel and that there isn't a huge amount in any one place which can cause flaking. Then I shake head and that's it. So far used 3-4 times a week but my head is small and hair us short at the moment. Water does help.to stretch product usage.

Protein & glycerin free styler. Small amount required.

This product doesn't have protein so if that is something your hair loves, you will need to pair it with a styler that contains protein or else you will lose definition. Also you only need a very small amount. I use a 5p sized amount on each side, so in total 3 x 5p sized amount, but this product works best if you get your 5p sized amount and then rub it between your hands with a few drops of water to activate it. My hair is not a lover of glycerin, it makes it frizzy, so this product is always part of my combo. In dry weather I put it on my hair first to add moisture and layer mousse afterwards. In the winter I use this as the last layer to protect against frizz. Also, remember to scrunch out the crunch. If you are not using too much, you will not get flaking.

Don't believe the hype

Really overrated product! I expected this to define and enhance my waves/curls but it just leaves it a sticky mess no matter how much product you use. It's the same results on both wet and dry hair, leaves hair heavy and weighed down. The only positive is that it smells really amazing but that's not what it's for. Also felt it dries your hair out and doesn't add any moisture.
