Kings Edge Oilers in Thrilling Overtime Victory

Los Angeles, CA – April 26, 2025 – In a high-stakes battle between two playoff contenders, the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtime last night at Crypto.com Arena, keeping their postseason hopes alive.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging blows in a fast-paced, physical contest. The Oilers struck first, with Connor McDavid scoring a dazzling breakaway goal in the opening period. The Kings responded in the second with a power-play goal from Adrian Kempe, but Leon Draisaitl quickly restored Edmonton’s lead with a snipe from the slot.

Los Angeles fought back in the third period, with goals from Phillip Danault and Quinton Byfield giving them a 3-2 lead. However, with less than two minutes remaining, McDavid struck again, tying the game and forcing overtime.

In the extra frame, Anze Kopitar became the hero, firing a wrist shot past Stuart Skinner to secure the win for the Kings. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 34 saves in a standout performance.

'It was a huge character win for us,' said Kopitar. 'We knew we had to match their intensity, and we got it done.'

The Oilers, despite the loss, remain in strong playoff position, but the Kings’ victory tightens the Pacific Division race. The two teams will meet again next week in what promises to be another electrifying clash.
