Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a single-player action role-playing game for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was created as a MMO, but it eventually turned into a RPG. Ken Rolston, the lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, acts as the game's exclusive designer. Additionally, noted fantasy author R.A. Salvatore created the game universe and lore, with Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn , working on the artwork. It was developed by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games. The game was released on February 7th, 2012, in North America and February 10th, 2012, in Europe. The first public demonstration was at Penny Arcade Expo East 2011, held in Boston, Massachusetts, United States on March 11, 2011.
On September 6, 2018 THQ Nordic announced it had acquired Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning in addition to its related intellectual property, including the cancelled MMO Copernicus project . [1] [2] [3] [4] . Publishing rights remain with Electronic Arts. [5] [6] [7]
As game begins you discover that you were recently killed and that you are the first person to have successfully been resurrected through a contraption known as The Well of Souls .
Kingdoms of Amalur features "5 distinct regions, 4 playable races and 3 ability trees with 22 abilities per tree." The four playable races are Almain (noble Humans), the Dokkalfar (Dark Elves), the Ljosalfar , (Light Elves) and the Varani (nomadic Humans). A big difference between other RPGs is that you start almost classless, so you can make your own unique class (e.g. Might skills with some basic Sorcery spells). The ability trees are Might , Finesse and Sorcery ; they correspond to fighter, rogue and mage classes respectively. The player starts off as a "blank slate", waking up in a pile of corpses after coming back from the dead. The game utilises a unique "destiny" system, whereby the players can invest in the skill-tree system to unlock various "destinies", which acts as the class system for the game. Combat works based on the timing of button presses, similar to the style of an action RPG, with occasional quick time events similar to those in the God of War series. Lead combat designer, Joe Quadandra, emphasized that "twitch skill is only going to get you so far. Strategy and proper RPG is going to get you further." 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling said that the style of the game is a marriage between God of War and Oblivion .
38 Studios, owned by former Red Sox Pitcher Curt Schilling, originally began developing the Amalur universe for use in an MMO, codenamed 'Copernicus'. After acquiring Big Huge Games in 2009, the studio decided to transform the project into a single-player RPG, as Ken Rolston and his team had already been working on an RPG while Big Huge Games was part of THQ. After Big Huge Games and 38 Studios were shut down, the plans to expand the Amalur universe into an MMO after Reckoning is left in question.
A playable demo was released on January 17, 2012, for Windows (Steam and Origin only), Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. In this demo, you get to play the first quest of the main story: Out of the Darkness . After you've completed this quest, you'll be able to play another 45 minutes, in which you can do whatever you like. The best part is that, for example, talking to someone does not count as the playing time. So don't worry if you want to ask some other questions: you don't have to rush. You can find the timer in the Start menu. It will take you about 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish the demo.
There are four different editions of the game: the standard edition, The Reckoning: Special Edition, the Reckoning: Collector's Edition, and the Reckoning: Signature Edition.

Just a warning for those of you who are planning to share this game with your kids or (as did I before realizing this) suggest it to friends for their kid's use. I know allot of people don't mind a little skin but have issues with private parts. I just discovered by chance that some people in this game are not wearing any underwear and their private parts are visible. I know "suggestive themes" CAN include nudity but most of us don't take it that way. This game has it. Just a friendly warning.

So far I've only seen it once. It was in a seaside city (I can't recall the name). I ran in to some building and on my way in, the camera went by some NPC's undercarriage. I couldn't believe it but went back out to make sure but sure enough, it was there. Maybe a "one time" thing left by some rogue programmer? Anyway, I'll get a picture and exact names for you.
Friends, This is funny. I have been stalking this forum for like a year, and I think this is the first time I have seen a post like this. I might have to use the search function at the bottom, to see if it really is the first. Well thank you. so killing with a sword and fire spell is ok, but a digital crotch is not?? I was on a plane to england, and this english guy was sitting next to me. He said "Help me understand you amercians". On one hand, you see a boob on tv, and you get all excited. ON the other, Americans support the most porn sites then any other country. So which is? he asked. I was speechless. ( which is rare for me ) thank you for sharing.

In my case, I had already recommended it to a friend who doesn't care about his kids playing bloody games (they play Fallout, Skyrim etc.) but is not OK with nudity. I wound up having to go back and straighten it all out. I'm just giving people a heads up so they don't make the same error as I did.

It's telling that you have to be actively looking for this, and given the angle of your image I can't actually tell if that's nudity or part of their clothing. I'd be willing to bet anything that your friends' kids would never have come across this without you actively looking up every skirt you come across in order to find it and tell them that it's in the game. If they ever get hold of the game you have effectively done more to pique their curiosity and encourage them to find it than you have to prevent them from doing so. And this is without even mentioning the problematic ideology at work here.

People who are OK with violence, but not a little nudity, are bad people and one of the big problems in the US.

i completely agree with the last 2 posters. now that you've posted this i will have to look for it. i havent seen it by just stumbling upon it. i feel the warning is totally warranted if this is truley in the game, and put there to serve some perverse purpose. however, i also feel that nudity in of itself is not a problem, pornography is a problem for youngens. also posting this warning on a public forum only gives children access to this knowledge. so you may have warned a few parents but enlightened a few hundred children in the process.

There is something seriously wrong with things when nudity is the greater evil next to violence. Can't let the kiddies catch a glimpse of a naked body, which is something we all have, when they could be killing things instead. Glad we got our priorities straight on this one.
