Kim Wilde since her first album with Kids in America and Chequered Love has always been a charmer and with her albums that followed they too are great. Maybe some weakening on one of the later ones but she's back with recent albums("Come Out And Play" and "Snapshot")and has been touring in the UK (solo and 80's Festivals). This album with the bonus remixes are great and I was actually waiting for the remixes of "Go For It" and "Lovers on a Beach" to be put on CD. Cherry Pop keeps on picking the right artists along with the packed content containing B-sides, 7" versions, and remixes (ALL of which are GREAT !!). Just keep em' comin'!!! July 2013 update - Kim Is Touring in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia this Year(No idea why she has not made it to the U.S. yet, let's hope SOON !!). Look out for the re-issue of her Close album. Yep with more remixes on another 2 CD set release. CD 1 1. THE TOUCH 2. IS IT OVER 3. SUBURBS OF MOSCOW 4. FIT IN 5. RAGE TO LOVE 6. THE SECOND TIME 7. BLADERUNNER 8. JANINE 9. SHANGRI-LA 10. THOUGHT IT WAS GOODBYE BONUS TRACKS (On CD 1) 11. LOVERS ON A BEACH 12. SHANGRI-LA (ALTERNATIVE VERSION) 13. PUTTY IN YOUR HANDS 14. TURN IT ON 15. THE SECOND TIME (7" VERSION) 16. THE TOUCH (7" VERSION) 17. RAGE TO LOVE (7" VERSION) CD 2 1. THE SECOND TIME (12" VERSION) 2. LOVERS ON A BEACH (12" VERSION) 3. GO FOR IT (EXTENDED DANCE VERSION) 4. THE TOUCH (12" VERSION) 5. SHANGRI-LA (12" VERSION) 6. GO FOR IT (DUB VERSION) 7. RAGE TO LOVE (12" VERSION) 8. SHANGRI-LA (SPECIAL RE-MIX) 9. THE SECOND TIME (U.S. REMIX)
I had pretty much given up hope of "upgrading" my vinyl copies of this album, singles and 12" remixes. But, thanks to Cherry Pop, I've been able to do so! As indicated, this CD contains not just the original TEASES & DARES album, but also remixes and 12" versions, including that awesome 12" Extended Dance Version of "Go For It". Brings back memories of those college radio days! As far as the music goes, it's probably not everybody's cup of tea. It may be dated, but, as far as that first wave of essentially totally synthesized pop music goes, this has to be THE gold standard. Can you say "programming?" While lots of "New Wave" acts from the eighties did the techno-pop, synthesizer thing, I don't think anybody went as fully head-on into it as Kim Wilde did with TEASES & DARES. I loved it then, still get a kick out of it now! High quality audio transfer puts those vinyl records to shame for sound quality. Flip-fold jewel case is well put together and the liner notes provide some interesting information about both the album and Kim's career at the time of this albums original release. Includes lyrics (as did the original LP). But, of course, they couldn't fit in the 6-panel fold-out poster that came with the original 7" vinyl single, featuring mirror images of a "post-apocalyptic" Kim sitting in a chair on the outside and a jumbo 6-panel poster head-shot of Kim on the other! I guess I'll have to hang on to that! I give FIVE STARS to the TEASES & DARES reissue from Cherry Pop. Nothing screams "80s" quite like this album!
Cherry Pop did a tremendous job w/ the Teases & Dares reissue. This was always my favorite Kim Wilde CD. To have the sound all cleaned up and all the extra bonus tracks included make this a no-brainer. It may seem a little dated at times, but then again when you go back and listen a few times it brings back lots of memories from when the recording was new. A must have for any Kim Wilde fan, or anyone looking for some good music from the era. This CD does not all sound the same, it has a good variety, from dance to ballads and in between.
My original cd version of this superb album, was kinda muddy sounding, but I cherished it because this album has become increasingly harder to find over the years...until now.WOW! I could personally kiss everyone working at Cherry Pop Records for thi reissue. The other Kimmy reissues are also excellent, but this has always been my fave. The first album on which Kim wrote and produced, the terrific songs, "Fit In" (my theme song), "Shangri-La", & "Thought it was Goodbye". Sure I know the production is dated, it was released in 1984 & sounds like it, but I think thats part of its charm, give it a second chance and really listen to the lyrics. Lots of Xtras here, more than I would have thought. An excellent reissue for an underrated album thats long overdue.
i was excited to find this double disc album. i remember in 1984 when go for it came out. it was one of the most exciting songs i ever heard up to then and it is one of those songs i never tire of listening to and singing along with. and what a treat to have the remixes with all the smashing glass sounds.
One of the most overlooked 80s classics -done right! Kim’s biggest fans will not be disappointed
Great reissue. Additional tracks of Turn it on and Lovers on a beach was absolutely worth the purchase. These two were late 80 ' s Kim that I thought I'd never find on CD.
Easily her most underrated album. Superb extended remixes all here. Very recommended.

This album Teases you and Dares you to listen to it.
This is a sensational album and without any doubt the best album that Kim Wilde has recorded in her career. 'Teases & Dares' has that unforgettable 1984 sound I only recently got in to Kim's music and as I wasn't born until 1990 this is my chance to get a feeling of what the 1980s was like, I have been after this album for a long time and this wonderful Deluxe Edition by Cherry Red is absolutely fabulous the bonus tracks are wonderful especially 'Lovers On A Beach' and 'Turn It On', my favourite songs from 'Teases & Dares' are 'Janine', 'Bladerunner', 'Is It Over', 'The Second Time' & 'Rage To Love'. I highly recommend this album to any fan of Kim Wilde's music I have seen alot of negative reviews about this album but I totally disagree with them 'Teases & Dares' is such a sensational album and in my opinion one of the very best albums to have ever been recorded I would say it has a Summer feel to it, I am delighted with this album.

Cheap but not as described and deliberately damaged
Actually I try to cancel this order as it was ordered by mistake. But the order was dispatched within a minute of my cancellation request. The order was received quickly and the item 'intact' to a point, but the item was not described as being badly worn and damaged. It's a 12" vinyl LP. Who would drive a 5mm hole completely through the outer and inner sleeve from front to back? Still at least the vinyl plays ok

Tease me, Please me
Very pleasant easy listening pop music from someone whose voice is easy on the ear. Kim Wilde temporarily adopted an image which was sexy and sassy but nothing like herself and which she quickly dropped. There is more use of electronics on this album than others I have heard from her, mainly atmosphere, and there are some strong songs and some unexpected moments. My favourite tracks are "The Touch", "Rage to Love", "Bladerunner" and "Thought it was goodbye". My copy is extended with a second disk of alternate mixes, 12 inch mixes and tracks not on the original vinyl. If you like her this collection is well worth exploring for it's wide range of pop and more thoughtful tracks.

Although I am not a big fan of an electronic pop I think this album is very underrated in review here. This is actually quite good album. Especially in production it's great done. Although arrangements is primarily electronic there are a few guitar moments that sounds very well by the standards of 80s pop. The most highlites songs for me are atmosperic Shang… Read More

Because Kim Wilde's original British label, RAK records, had been unable to establish the singer as an American star despite her 1981 semi-hit "Kids in America" -- her third album hadn't even found a U.S. distributor -- Wilde and her manager father (former '50s pop star Marty Wilde) moved to the multinational conglomerate MCA, which recast the young singer in an entirely new light. Gone was the new wave synth pop feel of her earlier work, replaced by a sleekly electronic Hi-NRG disco sound and a sexier image. Although the change in direction would reap rewards (financial ones, anyway) in the future, Teases & Dares is a limp, shaky record, probably the weakest of Wilde's career. Frustratingly, the best songs are those which hint at a more intriguing direction, that of a sort of new wave torch singer. Dramatic ballads like "Fit In," "Shangri-La," and "Thought It Was Goodbye" (all of which, interestingly, were written by Wilde herself, a new development) are much more listenable than soggy, repetitive dance tracks like "The Touch" and "The Second Time." However, both of those songs were hits, and so Wilde's future was sealed.
