This camera has so much potential. Unfortunately because games are included my boys will never discover any other features of this camera. At first they loved the idea of being able to make videos and take pictures of nature. Unfortunately, after discovering the games they have become hooked. So I have yet another screen I have to monitor and fight over. Sad.

My kids love this!!! They seriously play with it all the time. Especially my 6yo. This video camera is really easy for them to use... they had all the features memorized in a few days. The green screen is really neat too. It was a big hit for a few days... especially the dinosaur chasing scene. But I will say the green screen features thrill wore off a little sooner than I would have expected. They haven't played with the different background scenes in over a week now and the games since the first day. But kids ebb and flow, I'm sure they'll go back to it in the future. But for now, my daughter is having plenty of fun making her own videos. She absolutely loves rewatching her videos over and over. The battery life is pretty good on this and it charges pretty quickly. The storage however is not very big. We have plenty of extra SD cards around the house, so it wasn't a problem for us. But just know, you'll most likely want to pick an extra one up. I also think the picture quality is pretty good now. We have the blue vtech camera that we got about 6 years old, and you the updated technology is so much better now. I guess the only things I have bad to say about this is I wish the green screen was a little bigger. It gets a little crowded when two kids are trying to fit on the screen. And I have a love/hate relationship with the uploading option. I have to manually hook it up to my computer via usb cord to upload to the internet. On one hand, this feels "old school" and is time consuming... but on the other, at least I can monitor and limit everything my kids want to upload to their (locked and private) youtube channel. If my daughter had her way, upload two dozen videos a day! Anyway, I can't recommend this toy video camera enough. I'm certain any child that has expressed interest in creating their own youtube videos will LOVE this! It really is that awesome. Thank you VTech!!!
Pros: Can do both video and photos Selfie and regular front facing modes 22 great green screen animations (make sure you have lots of light in the room. My kids also like to see if any of their green/teal shirts act as green screens too) Fun photo frames Button controls are easy to use (with volume control!) Tripod works great (removable) Games are fun (and can be turned off by the parent!) Cons: Short battery life Doesn't come with a memory card Note: The photo screen on our unit got stuck upside down after 3 months of use. I called VTech customer service and they said they will send a replacement camera without me having to return the old one. However, in order to receive a replacement camera, I had to "deface the product" by writing a specific number on my defective unit with Sharpie and emailing a pic of the defaced product to VTech. This is probably to prevent anyone from using a unit for multiple warranty replacements. Still a weird policy. I talked a manager into letting me write this number on the front of the camera instead of on the display screen. Since the selfie mode and the camera games still work fine, it seemed like a waste to just wreck the whole camera instead of being able to still use it in a limited capacity while we wait for the new one to arrive. Bottom line: A great video and photo camera for kids, call VTech directly for any warranty issues.
Great present for a 7 birthday boy! The quality of pictures and battery life ain't that great, but its acceptable for kids and for the price. really great gift

My 7 year old son and 7 year old niece absolutely love this thing. I’m quite pleased with it myself. Remember when we were kids we wanted to be doctors, astronauts, and vets when we grew up. Kids these days want to be utubers, vloggers, and Influensters... and this vtech kidi zoom creator camera is genius and very well executed too. I really like that it’s a completely closed system with no WiFi connect or anything like that so that the kids can’t accidentally share what they create online and no one can hack into it either. Set up is super easy. You don’t even have to use a memory card if you don’t want to! I did buy a memory card thinking it would need it but after reading the directions it has its own storage. You can still use one if you would like but it’s not a must. There’s an super tiny switch at the bottom of the camera you have to switch and then your good to go. The kids took no time at all figuring it out. I let them play with it while I figured out where to put the green screen. They were so proud to show me the video they created! It was basically them just pretend sword fighting for 10 minutes but they were pumped. Including a green screen in this was a genius move on vtech’s part. There are dozens of preinstalled things that you can choose from. A dinosaur chasing you, under water, a disco dance, a haunted house, a weather forcaster, just to name a few. The kids were pumped to be able to make it look like things were floating in the air by magic. There’s only a few minor things I would change about this. The battery life isn’t the greatest. I had charged it completely before giving this to them and they played for about 90 minutes straight and it needed charged again. The other think I would change is the green screen. While it’s super cool and I love that they included it I wish it were bigger. It’s only about (rough estimate) 3ft by 5ft. The problem with it is that since it’s small it’s hard to get them in the screen and the backdrop of whatever they choose. It’s also hard to make it seamless where you don’t see the area around the green screen. I think I might just buy another one that’s a bit bigger on a amazon since any green screen should work with it I’m assuming. Overall I’m really happy with this! And more importantly so are the kids. The price isn’t bad at all either. The green screen option with all the pre loaded backgrounds makes this camera in my opinion. I highly highly highly recommend this!
This product scored or battery was garbage I would not take a charge and because of that it never held the tiny little bit of trickle it went into it every couple of minutes if it connected it's a piece of garbage. It's really unfortunate we were really looking forward to this seems like a great buy for my YouTube obsessed son
