Issue 5 December 2004 Manual No INTRODUCTION This manual describes the design principles to be used on all carbon dioxide (CO 2) systems. General requirements and design criteria are based on British Standard (BS) 5306 Part 4, but on some occasions National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 12 may be used as the base document. KIDDE High-Pressure CO 2 Fire Suppression Systems use seamless steel cylinders to store carbon dioxide agent. The agent is stored in steel cylinders as a liquid under its own vapor pressure. This manual is intended to clearly and accurately describe the installation, operation and maintenance of the ARIES Fire Alarm/Suppression Control Unit. Kidde-Fenwal assumes no responsibility for the application of any systems other than those addressed in this manual. The Kidde Marine portfolio includes systems such as Kidde ECS System using FM-200, the Kidde WHDR Galley System and the new Kidde SBS System, a revolutionary system designed specifically for small vessels.
