Two schoolgirls were abducted in broad daylight yesterday and subjected to a horrific sexual assault.
The 14-year-olds were forced into the back of a white van in Slough, Berkshire, by two men.
bundled out near woodland with no idea where they were.
One of the terrified girls called 999 on her mobile phone at
3.20pm and police launched a huge search involving a helicopter and dozens of men.
It was not until almost two hours later that the girls were found after a member of the public spotted them cowering near Black Park, which is a few miles from the town. Reunited with their families, they were being gently questioned by detectives last night but were said to be too traumatised to give much information.
The chilling attack came exactly three weeks after the disappearance of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, who went missing on Sunday August 4.
to reveal many more details last night.
They said the two girls were walking along Tuns Lane, Slough, at about 3pm when they were grabbed.
Police appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who saw a white van, to come forward.
A spokesman confirmed that both the girls had been victims of a 'serious sexual assault.'
The abduction of the two youngsters bears chilling similarities to that of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Their disappearance from Soham, Cambridgeshire, triggered a huge manhunt. But it was not until last Saturday that their bodies were found in woodland near an isolated lane in Lakenheath, Suffolk.
Their fraught parents had already been told by police that Holly and Jessica would not be found alive.
School caretaker Ian Huntley has been charged with their murders.
His girlfriend, Maxine Carr, 25, who was a teaching assistant at St Andrew's Primary School - where Holly and Jessica were pupils - has been accused of perverting the course of justice.
She is currently on suicide watch at Holloway Prison in London while Huntley, 28, who was caretaker at Soham Village College, is being held at Rampton high- security hospital in Nottinghamshire.
He is being assessed by psychiatrists to see if he is fit to stand trial.
The sprawling town of Slough, in London commuter territory, could not be more different from the quiet closeknit community of picturesque Soham.
Slough, with a population of 108,000, is the second largest town in Berkshire.
It has suffered from a dramatic rise in crime in recent years, and has burglary, violence and theft rates well above the national average.
There is also a prevalent Asian gang culture - Slough has one of the highest Asian populations in England, with almost one in three people from ethnic minorities.

A mum has revealed her heartbreak after discovering that two of her children are in a relationship together.
The mother said she was shocked to learn her son and step-daughter - who’ve been living together as a family since they were toddlers - had formed a romantic bond.

Sharing on Reddit, she said she refuses to accept their relationship and says it makes her “sick and angry”.
“When my son Nathan was two, he met a friend in his daycare class, who we’ll call Abby,” she said.
“Her dad, Jack, was one of the only other single parents there, as his wife had left after Abby was born.
“Jack and I bonded over our children and ended up dating for a year and a half before getting married, and we had our daughter Eliza less than a year later.
“Jack and I always raised all three of our children the same, and though they knew that Nathan had a different dad and Abby had a different mum, we had never thought to question if they saw each other as siblings.”
The mum went on to say that her life was tipped upside down last week when Nathan and Abby admitted they’d been in a romantic relationship for the past few years.
“She said that it happened after they were both adults, that they had gone to relationship counselling when it first started and that they were seriously thinking about marriage,” she said.
“Nathan then told us that they had admitted to having feelings for each other as teenagers, but had never acted on it because they were afraid of ruining their friendship, hurting each other, and most of all what we would think.
“At this point, Jack looked at me, grabbed my hand and hugged our children.
“He told them that he was sorry for us keeping them apart and that he ‘could tell how happy they are together’.
Since Nathan and Abby confessed their love, the mum said she’s struggled to cope.
“I haven’t responded to any of their messages or calls, and pretended I wasn’t home when they tried to visit during the day,” she said.
“I’ve been fighting with Jack since this happened, even so far as telling him ... they would never have my blessing, and I would put them both in therapy for having incestuous desires.
“This really upset him, and the fighting got so bad that I had him sleep in the guest house.
“I’ve never gone this long without talking to my children. I’ve never fought my husband. He’s even threatened me with divorce.
“I have no idea how to navigate this, and every time I think about it their whole relationship just makes me sick and angry.”
Many Reddit users sympathised with the mum’s reaction.
“Nathan and Abby were raised as siblings since they were toddlers and share a sibling not much younger than them,” said one.
“This isn’t a case of you and Jack meeting when your children were all grown, or possibly a much younger sibling they didn’t see much or even living in different houses throughout their childhoods.
“They were raised as brother and sister, and while they don’t share blood, they do have a sister together.
“I think your reaction is completely normal and justified.”
Added another: “It doesn’t matter if they technically don’t share blood.
“They were raised together as siblings since they were three years old, which is about as far back as any of us can remember. This is messed up.”
But others believed there was nothing wrong with the siblings dating, given they’re not related by blood.
“They are adults and it sounds like they took the correct steps before starting a relationship,” said another.
“Perhaps, you should consider therapy to work through your issues with their relationship.
“After all, they aren’t biologically related so this isn’t incest.
“You can’t force them to feel like siblings just because they grew up together.”

A high school gym teacher's alleged year-long sexual affair with a 16-year-old student was exposed when she flew into a jealous rage because he was taking another girl to prom.
Joy Morsi, a 39-year-old teacher at Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, New York, allegedly had sex with the wrestler in the school gym and basement, and sent him raunchy selfies and emails.
The Long Island mother, whose husband also teaches at the school, was arrested on Monday and charged with third-degree rape.

The illegal relationship began in June last year when Morsi offered to help the student lose weight, prosecutors said in court today.
On June 10, Morsi allegedly lured the unidentified student into a 'secluded closet' where she exposed herself to him, prosecutor Taylor Piscionere said according to New York Daily News.
She also allegedly sent the student emails asking if he was a virgin, along with saucy text messages.
The court heard the pair had sex all over the school from June to July last year, and continued to meet for sex outside of school.
Prosecutors said the victim reported Morsi to authorities about two weeks ago after she became jealous that he was taking a girl to prom.
In court today, Morsi pleaded not guilty to numerous counts of third-degree rape, a criminal sexual act in the third degree and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
As the student turned 17 during the nearly year-long dalliance, subsequent alleged encounters are considered legal.
Morsi, described by some students as 'a hard-working teacher' did not comment as she left court. If convicted, she faces four years behind bars.

City Department of Education officials told New York Daily News that Morsi was 'immediately removed' from the classroom when she was reported.
'We find these claims disturbing and reprehensible and she will remain reassigned — far from any student and the school — pending a criminal investigation,' deputy press secretary Marcus Liem said.
'We will work closely with the school to ensure they are given any needed support.'
Meanwhile students at the school said rumors had long circulated about the alleged affair.
'We had a feeling that something was going on,' ninth-grader Josie Gonzalez told New York Daily News. 'They would always be together around the school.'
Eyewitness News ABC7 reported that the Department of Education is now looking into Morsi's interactions with other students.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said the case was 'particularly disturbing' because the encounters occurred at school.
'Schools should be safe havens for children. Instead, this defendant is accused of sexually preying upon one of her students during rendezvous all over the school.'
