Khaleel Dimna is an artist, philosopher, animator, writer, and photographer from New York City. He is a child of first generation immigrants from India, Gender nonconforming, and low income. For the last few years he has been supporting himself through survival sex work and helping his community by taking photographs for other full service sex workers. The sex industry has a serious problem with racism and Khaleel has been facing a lack of clients, while the clients he does see do not pay him what he is worth and he has been assaulted and had his boundaries repeatedly violated. His photography has been a lifeline and he has been giving back to the sex work community by promoting the businesses of independent fssws of color, trans sex workers, and marginalized women. Producing content allows sex workers to rely less on dangerous in person work and to control how they are perceived. His work is boundary breaking and fights the toxic stigma that leads to violence against sex workers, violence our society has ignored and is therefore complicit in. Unfortunately, Khaleel had his Sony A7R2 Camera stolen last week by a person he had befriended and gone out of his way to help. This has left him in a chaotic situation where he is unsure of where his means of financial survival will come from. This also affects the larger sex work community by taking away a valuable resource that these very marginalized people rely upon. I am calling upon our neighbors, friends, family, and community members to help Khaleel in this dire and disruptive situation so he can continue to support himself and serve his community. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated and will be a Godsend to Khaleel and the people he supports with his artwork. The goal is 1,800 to cover the cost of the camera body and lens. Thank you.
