Khabib Nurmagomedov Announces Launch of Global MMA Academy to Mentor Next Generation of Fighters

Retired UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, has announced the launch of a global MMA academy aimed at nurturing the next generation of fighters. The academy, named Eagle FC Global, will have its flagship facility in Dagestan, Russia, with plans to expand to the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia in the coming years.

In a press conference held in Moscow, Nurmagomedov revealed his vision for the academy, emphasizing the importance of discipline, hard work, and respect—values that have defined his own career. 'I want to give back to the sport that gave me everything,' Khabib said. 'This academy is not just about creating champions inside the cage, but also outside of it. We will teach young fighters how to be good athletes and even better human beings.'

The academy will offer world-class training facilities, with a focus on wrestling, grappling, and striking, as well as strength and conditioning programs. Khabib has enlisted a team of elite coaches, including his longtime mentor Javier Mendez and former training partners, to ensure the highest level of instruction. Additionally, the academy will provide educational programs on nutrition, mental health, and financial management, preparing fighters for life beyond the octagon.

Khabib also hinted at the possibility of hosting regional and international tournaments under the Eagle FC banner, providing a platform for up-and-coming talent to showcase their skills. 'This is just the beginning,' he said. 'I want to create opportunities for fighters from all over the world, especially those who don’t have access to resources or support.'

The announcement has been met with widespread excitement from the MMA community. UFC President Dana White praised Khabib’s initiative, calling it a 'game-changer for the sport.' Meanwhile, fans and fellow fighters have taken to social media to express their support, with many hailing Khabib’s commitment to giving back.

Since retiring from professional competition in 2020 with an undefeated record of 29-0, Khabib has remained active in the MMA world as a coach, mentor, and promoter. His new venture solidifies his legacy as not only a dominant fighter but also a visionary leader dedicated to the growth of the sport.

The Eagle FC Global academy is set to open its doors in early 2024, with applications for the first cohort of fighters expected to open next month. For many aspiring athletes, this could be the first step toward following in the footsteps of 'The Eagle' himself.
