Coronavirus is spreading continually across the world. This pandemic has been a challenge for everyone. The COVID-19 outbreak has changed our daily lives in ways we never could have imagined. Many companies use various screening methods to screen suspected COVID-19 individuals. As an increase in the number of cases, the technique of screening is not helping. Most countries are relying on a rapid COVID antibody test kit for testing COVID-19, which can give you results in just 15 minutes.

What is the COVID Antibody test kit?

COVID Antibody test kit is a kind of laboratory testing technique. And it is easy to use, as it is very portable. To conduct this test, you need a laboratory. You can use this kit and test at a laboratory. It can easily detect the presence of the antibodies of COVID in the body. These antibody test kits are based on two antibodies, IgM and IgG. Through these antibodies, it is easy to identify whether coronavirus infected the patient earlier or recently. The results can be interpreted as follows:

  • If IgM is positive, then it indicates the patient has a primary COVID-19 infection.
  • If both the IgG and IgM is positive, then it is a secondary Coronavirus symptom.
  • Only IgG positive indicates any past COVID-19 symptom.
  • If both are negative, then the patient has no infection of coronavirus.
  • If the kit result can be interpreted as invalid, it indicates a failure to detect the sample.

Key points of using Antibody Test Kits:

  • A positive antibody test kit is presumed to mean a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus causes at some point in the past. It doesn’t indicate that they are currently infected.
  • Antibody test results should not be used to diagnose someone with an active infection.
  • Antibodies start developing within 1 to 3 weeks after infection.
  • FDA has authorized antibody tests for this virus, but these tests are not 100% accurate because some false-positive results or false-negative results may occur.

What To Do If You Are COVID-19 Infected?

  • Stay home and avoid visits in public areas except at getting medical care.
  • Take care of yourself, get rest, and stay hydrated.
