Kerry Washington Announces New Production Company Focused on Diverse Storytelling

Los Angeles, May 2, 2025 – Award-winning actress and producer Kerry Washington has unveiled her latest venture, a production company dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices in Hollywood. The new company, named Legacy Lens Media, will focus on developing films, television series, and digital content that highlight diverse narratives, with an emphasis on women, people of color, and LGBTQ stories.

Washington, best known for her iconic role as Olivia Pope in Scandal and her recent acclaimed performances in Unprisoned and The School for Good and Evil, has long been an advocate for inclusivity in entertainment. Through her previous work with Simpson Street Productions, she has already produced hits like Little Fires Everywhere and Reasonable Doubt.

'I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to change hearts and minds,' Washington said in a statement. 'With Legacy Lens Media, I want to create a space where marginalized voices aren’t just included but are centered in the narratives we see on screen.'

The company has already secured a first-look deal with a major streaming platform, though details remain under wraps. Industry insiders suggest that Washington is developing a historical limited series and a slate of indie films set to begin production in 2026.
