Kemet is the sort of design where more players necessarily add more playtime. I wish the boxes for these games would adopt the more useful label of "30 minutes per player." I like Kemet a lot, but I have no desire to play it with five.
Kemet is my favorite game. For reference Quantum is #2. I also have and love Battlelore, which is 2 player only.. I have played Kemet many times with all player counts, and I love it with 2. It becomes very tight game with no politics, where denial becomes as important as gain. You get access to half the power tiles, and the choices are so diverse each game feels very different .

Never heard of the beginner mode, but looks like a good way to easy people into the game. Kemet can be a little intimidating for casual players.
