R. Kelly’s first male accuser has testified at the singer’s sex crimes trial, alleging he sexually abused him as a teen.
The witness identified as Louis took the stand in Brooklyn, New York on Monday (August 30) and claimed Kelly abused him when he was 17 after they met at a McDonald’s restaurant in 2006 and swapped phone numbers.
The accuser told the court he attended several parties at R. Kelly’s Illinois home and worked on music in the singer’s studio, but their friendship allegedly turned sexual one night when the R&B star quizzed his protege about his fantasies and then performed oral sex on Louis.
He claimed he told Kelly he “wasn’t into it”, and the I Believe I Can Fly singer stopped, telling the youngster, “Keep it between me and him. We’re family now. We’re brothers.”
Louis continued to attend Kelly’s parties, and claimed the hitmaker would record their sexual encounters and once made him engage in a sex act with a stranger while he watched.
He then confessed he had been arrested for trying to bribe a potential witness against R. Kelly and was testifying as part of a plea deal.
A woman named Addie also testified against Kelly on Monday , accusing the singer of sexually assaulting her backstage at a concert in 1994, when she was 17.
After convincing the witness and a friend to come to his hotel room and audition for him, she claimed he kissed both of them and then “started getting a little more aggressive,” holding her wrists and tearing off her clothes before having unprotected sex with her.
She urged her friend not to report the singer to the police because she didn’t want to be “victim-shamed.”
Kelly has been charged with a series of sex crimes and faces 10 years to life in prison if he is found guilty on all counts.
He has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to all of the charges in this case. He is also concurrently facing other sex-related charges in Illinois and Minnesota. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges too.

Federal prosecutors in R Kelly’s sex trafficking case say the R&B star had sexual contact with an underage boy as well as girls, and jurors should hear those claims.
In a court filing on Friday, prosecutors aired a raft of new allegations against Kelly – but not new charges. Jury selection is due to start on 9 August in federal court in New York.
Kelly denies ever abusing anyone. His lawyers did not immediately comment about the additional allegations.
The Grammy-winning singer is charged with leading what prosecutors call a criminal enterprise of managers, bodyguards and other employees who allegedly helped him recruit women and girls for sex and pornography and to exercise control over them.
The charges involve six women and girls, who are not named in court filings.
Prosecutors want jurors to hear about more than a dozen other people the government alleges were sexually or physically abused, threatened or otherwise mistreated by Kelly.
Among them, the government says, was a 17-year-old boy, an aspiring musician who Kelly met at a McDonald’s in December 2006 and later invited to his Chicago studio.
After asking the boy what he would do to make it in the music business, Kelly propositioned and had sexual contact with him while he was still underage, according to the court filing.
When Kelly was about to go on trial on child abuse image charges in Chicago in 2008, the same youth told the singer he had access to a juror, prosecutors said, adding that Kelly asked him to contact the juror and vouch he was a “good guy”.
The filing does not say whether the youth did. Kelly was acquitted in that case.
The boy also introduced Kelly to a 16- or 17-year-old male friend, with whom prosecutors say the singer began a sexual relationship several years later. Kelly filmed the two youths in sexual encounters with other people, including some of Kelly’s girlfriends, according to the filing.
Prosecutors say the accounts of the boys and others would help show that the actual charges “were not isolated events and were part of a larger pattern”.
The multiplatinum-selling singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, is known for work including the 1996 hit I Believe I Can Fly and the cult classic Trapped in the Closet, a multi-part tale of sexual betrayal and intrigue.
Kelly also faces sex-related charges in Illinois and Minnesota. He has pleaded not guilty.

Fan-run subreddit for the Bravo shows Below Deck, Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Sailing Yacht and spinoffs such as Below Deck Down Under
I’m currently watching Season 2 rerun below deck on Bravo and I just don’t get why Kelly tries so hard to persuade Jennice to get with him and leave her boyfriend for her to finally do it with all the pressure she got from him and Amy that Kelly decides at the end of the season it’s not going to work out and he distance himself away from her. Like what the fuck you finally got the girl she wants to be with you she’s making plans to see you after the charter season and your just literally giving her the cold shoulder and avoiding her?! And then Amy has the nerve to say that Jennice is moving too fast with Kelly but yet was the same person to say your going to regret your decision not being with my amazing brother because there is no other man like him out there🙄🤢 like okay Amy calm down Kelly isn’t special at all he’s literally a whiny bitch the whole season of season 2. I just don’t understand why they couldn’t respect her space and her relationship with her current BF. Like move on.
I thought the same the 1st time I saw it. Kelly and Amy were both wrong and I didn't know anyone else noticed just how wrong Amy was to pressure Jennifer and then flip like that.Your assessment is spot on!
Yeah, that always really bothered me. Kelly proved to be a total fuckboi. He completely manipulated the situation with Jennice and then essentially gaslit her. He obviously has problems. And Amy meddling in the beginning like that and then joining in with the gaslighting was not fun to watch, at all. Jennice deserved better. She seemed genuinely sweet.
I thought Amy getting involved was something the producers pushed, just because it seemed really awkward and staged. I don’t know.
Kelley wasn’t much better in his 2nd season, creeping on Emily like he did.
Yeah, he literally pouts and throws a fit when he doesn’t get his way. I loved when Captain Lee through it in his face that he expected more from a Marine. Seeing Kelly’s face when he said that made me smirk.
Absolutely, he was so shocked when Ben got Emily! She saw right through him and all his shirtless behavior :-).
Yes, yes and yes! Was just saying these exact same things, to my girlfriend this morning. Jennice is an absolute sweetheart and beautiful girl, who was respecting herself and relationship, while Kelley was a grown child, pouting and whining and sister Amy, because she wasn’t getting enough air time/attention, running to defend his actions and unfairly, guilt trip Jennice. Maybe he’s changed, but at that point in his life, I think Kelley had been falsely led to believe, he was some form of a gift to this earth and women, which made Captain Lee’s comment “I expected more from a Marine” even better.
Agreed. I thought hating Kelley was unpopular around here bc every time I mention him negatively I get downvoted to hell. He also participates in this sub.
Agreed I have never liked him but when he posts on here everyone goes crazy for him. I don’t get it.
I'm sure Kelly has grown and changed, but when he was super hungover and clinging to Jennice going "I need you to save me!" made me physically cringe. Both him and Jennice acted so dumb during that whole situation.
Just want to say Kelley seems to have changed a lot since being on the show and has his own YouTube channel where he talks a lot about mental health and anxiety related issues - it's called That Military Guy and he rocks long hair and a beard these days
Not condoning his bad behaviour towards Jennice that season or the gaslighting that came with/after it but must remember this season was shot years ago, and people are able to grow from certain experiences in life. And there's also production on board trying to push certain storylines as well 😉
I don't think he or Amy are horrible people but this was a bad look. If he's a better person today, that's great.
When people get called out in the public seems to change some, unfortunately they don’t see it on their own. Character, True Character, is when they realize it on their own and, like an Apology, is not forced.
Kelly sucks. People defend on here only because he visits the sub on occasion and they get..Star struck? Which is laughable. I hate the whole phenomenon honestly
Yeah it's funny how many people like Adrienne now that she has popped up on this sub from time to time when I can recall a time that virtually everyone on this sub could not stand her.
I agree 💯%. It pissed me off too. He tried so hard and got so upset when she wanted to shut it down, and then Amy gets attitude with her too about it. All the pressure mixed with the isolation on the boat and her boyfriend being so cold, would be hard for anyone. Then he when world is going to get bigger, charter ending, he pulls the rug out from under her. He may be good looking but that move made him very ugly!!! He is such a spoiled brat. It was just the challenge and not taking her feelings in to account. What a D*ck
They both really bothered me. How they handled that poor girl by flirting with her and ganging up on her and judging her decisions. Not to mention they are both crybabies about literally everything.
I always loved Amy. But just could never get behind Kelly. He definitely had that entitled vibe. Like the kind of guy that would bitch about being stuck in the friend zone.
Amy is my absolute favorite cast member of all time. Kelly seems like a pretty decent guy.
But...they are biological sister and brother.
Not that I'm defending Amy or Kelly, because they both suck (they should just be with each other, haha), but Jennice only came "back" to Kelly because she got dumped by her boyfriend on the Facetime.

She's worked at PEOPLE for over seven years as a writer, reporter and editor across our Entertainment, Lifestyle and News teams, covering everything from the Super Bowl to the Met Gala. She's been nominated for the ASME NEXT Awards for Journalists Under 30, and previously wrote for Us Weekly while on staff at Wenner Media.

She starred in some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed blockbusters, but offscreen, Kelly McGillis faced almost unimaginable struggles.

The actress, best known for starring in Top Gun , Witness and The Accused , has revealed she is a survivor of two brutal rapes, as well as several assaults – all horrific incidents she detailed on social media after her home was broken into and she was attacked last week.

McGillis, now 58 and living in North Carolina, was viciously raped by two men 34 years ago – a life-changing attack she detailed to PEOPLE in 1988.

In 1979, McGillis relocated to New York City from Newport Beach, California, to study acting at the Juilliard School. At the time, she previously told PEOPLE, she “was so terribly naïve about the ways of the world.”

Three years later – and a year after being mugged at gunpoint – McGillis was getting out of the shower when two men broke down her apartment door, she said.

Despite her screams, McGillis was forced into the bedroom with a knife held to her face. The men took turns sexually assaulting the actress, all while spitting on, hitting and stabbing at her with the knife.

“They kept switching and telling me they were going to beat me until I was dead,” she told PEOPLE. “At that point I thought I would die, and I had resigned myself.”

Eventually, police arrived, chasing the men off and taking McGillis to the hospital. Both men were arrested within a month of the incident. One, a 15-year-old, served more than three years in prison. Charges against the second alleged attacker, 20, were dismissed, however, after fingerprints and evidence left at the scene failed to incriminate him.

“The first few weeks after the incident I couldn’t eat or sleep. I twitched incessantly,” McGillis detailed to PEOPLE in 1988. “I would gasp suddenly without being able to control it.”

Scared and depressed, McGillis said she gained 30 pounds and began to rely on alcohol – an addiction that would eventually lead to rehab. She struggled to trust men and ruined relationships.

“Finally in 1984 I went into therapy for a year because I was tired of beating myself up for something I didn’t do, and I realized I would have no future if I didn’t stop,” McGillis said.

Later, her abuse struggle expanded to drugs, eventually landing her in a Pennsylvania halfway house, she told The New York Times in 2010.

It seemed as if McGillis had found peace by 2009. She was eight years sober, her relationship with her children – she has two grown daughters with her second husband, Fred Tillman, whom she divorced in 2002 – was long repaired and she was ready to come out as a lesbian , a surprise to many after two marriages to men.

A year later, McGillis entered into a civil union with partner Melanie Leis after 10 years together, telling PEOPLE , “I have a very quiet, little normal life, and I love it.”

But the romance wouldn’t last – by 2013, she and Leis had parted ways .

McGillis channeled her past problems into helping others – working with women at a New Jersey drug and rehab facility, she told The Oklahoman newspaper in 2013.

“I find it’s just an amazing gift to see people come in hopeless and to be given some hope and some desire to live, and some tools for hopefully changing their lives, their children’s lives, their families’ lives,” McGillis said.

She also re-entered Hollywood – an industry she’d long left behind to focus on her children. In 2013, she appeared in the cannibal horror film We Are What we Are . “I think I kind of look at things now with like, ‘Have I done it before? Would it be fun? How long away from home is it?’ ” she told Yahoo of joining the cast.

The June 17 break-in at her home has left McGillis rattled – and reopened old wounds, despite the arrest of the alleged intruder.

In a Facebook post from two days after the incident, the actress further alleged that someone from her past had stalked her and once attempted to poison her pets and destroy her personal property.

She also revealed that she was gang-raped by three men when she was 12.

“After each one of these attacks I moved thinking I could find a safe place. Not,” she wrote, adding, “I am now left with all the terrifying feelings of PTSD and trying to pull myself out of the very depth of the all consuming depression and despair. All that background pain has pushed itself to the fore of my psyche.”

McGillis has since obtained a concealed carry permit for North Carolina, writing on Facebook, “All I have ever wanted is to feel safe. Safe in my own home.”
