Kazakhstan has been a notorious country in terms of prostitution and solicitation hotspots. While prostitution was banned in the country when it was a part of the USSR, a few years after Kazakhstan gained independence , the laws prohibiting prostitution were abolished in 2001 . The result is a far-flung prostitution ring often backed up by law enforcement officers and officials. Although prostitution is legal in the country, acts promoting prostitution such as brothels or prostitution ring are against the law.
While prostitution as a legal concept should not be an issue on the paper, in reality, it tends to hide many vices under its folds such as child trafficking, harassment, extortion, and rape. One Google search and you will be presented with multiple sites explaining to you how to solicit sex in the country. Under the veil of legalization, miscreants prostitute minors and even export them to other countries. It is said that around one-third of the prostitutes in the country are under-age.
In 2014 , Economic Times published a piece where it highlighted how Kazakhstan’s senior diplomat in Delhi Timur Nogaibayev had brought up the issue of the country becoming a sex hotspot and promoting child trafficking and extortion. “Kazakhstan has maintained progress in its anti-trafficking law enforcement efforts and prohibits trafficking in persons for both labor and sexual exploitation. It has passed amendments to its anti-trafficking legislation in 2013 , that increased penalties for trafficking in persons and aligned its definition of human trafficking with the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children of the UN Convention against Transnational Organised Crime,” Timu Nogaibayev had said.
Kazakhstan had then paid particular attention to India and its “rich and enterprising middle class” for the development of its tourism and sight-seeing. As a part of a plan to get rid of the sex tourism hotspot stigma, Kazakhstan had planned to develop three main leisure zones for travelers on the shores of Lake Schyuchye, Borovoye, Big Chebachye, and Small Chebachye.
In 2019, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev resigned after 30 years in power and named Senator Speaker Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as an interim President. In the subsequent elections, Tokayev ran as a candidate and won. However, the new president did not bring any reformations for Kazakhs as they still suffer the wrath of trafficking and underage prostitution. Moreover, the Kazakhstan government also refused to register Feminita, a group that focuses on the rights of lesbian, bisexual, and queer women.
Tourism is not an essential part of Kazakhstan’s economy. By 2014 tourism accounted for 0.3% of the country’s GDP. However, the government has planned to increase it to up to 3% in 2020. With an initiative named “Tourism Industry Development Plan,” the government is looking to establish five tourism clusters in Kazakhstan: Nur-Sultan city, Almaty city, East Kazakhstan, South Kazakhstan, and West Kazakhstan Oblasts.
In 2020, the Kazakhstan government has enforced its rules and regulations regarding prostitution and the human rights violations spurred by it. Those who provide premises for prostitution and pandering are liable to be fined and so would the mediators between prostitutes and clients. To prevent child trafficking , solicitors will be severely punished by the country’s Criminal Code with imprisonment of up to 5 years.
As per the rules and regulations, Kazakhstan remains committed to its roots. However, according to Human Rights Watch, the country has been particularly weak in alleviating its human rights violation practices by the miscreants as well as the government.

It seems the nightmare of Borat has come back to haunt Kazakhstan.
The Asian country was outraged by the Sacha Baron Cohen-inspired film of 2006 Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and banned it from being shown in their county.
But now, incredible footage from a medal ceremony in Kuwait has shown Borat's satirical version of the National Anthem played out INSTEAD of the genuine one.
Deserves a medal: Kazakh shooter Maria Dmitrienko managed to somehow keep a straight face throughout the shocking episode
Gold medallist: Dmitrienko, centre, stands with the other athletes and finally cracks a smile
It appears the organisers downloaded the incorrect version of the anthem.
But the Kazakh athlete who was the recipient of the major error, Maria Dmitrienko, refused to be flustered, and continued to the end of the made-up song.
The rest of her shooting team, for who she has just won the gold medal for, were less than impressed however, and demanded the ceremony be re-run as well as a full apology made.
Speaking to Kazakh news agency Tengrinews, coach Anvar Yunusmetov said: 'Then Maria Dmitrienko's turn came.
'She got up on to the pedestal and they played a completely different anthem, offensive to Kazakhstan.'
Criticised: The 2006 film Borat was banned in Arab countries - and it's not hard to see why
Risky move: Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat in the village of Glod, introducing his sister, 'an award winning prostitute'
Instead of 'Sky of golden sun' and 'steppe of golden seed,' the audience at the Kuwait medal ceremony were told that 'Kazakhstan [is the] greatest country in the world,' and that 'All other countries are run by little girls.'
As well as the lyrics played out stating that Kazakhstan has the best potassium, it also told how Kazakh prostitutes are the 'cleanest in region, except of course for too many scars.'
Back in 2006, the film, which was often shortened to Borat, became a huge talking point around the world due to its graphic nature and actions of its start, Borat Sagdiyev.
Sky of golden sun, Steppe of golden seed, Legend of courage - Take a look at my country!
From the antiquity Our heroic glory emerged, They did not give up their pride My Kazakh people are strong!
The way was opened to the posterity I have a vast land. Its unity is proper, I have an independent country.
It welcomed the time Like an eternal friend, Our country is happy, Such is our country.
Kazakhstan greatest country in the world. All other countries are run by little girls. Kazakhstan number one exporter of potassium. Other countries have inferior potassium. Kazakhstan home of Tinshein swimming pool. It’s length thirty meter and width six meter. Filtration system a marvel to behold. It remove 80 percent of human solid waste. Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan you very nice place. From Plains of Tarashek to Norther fence of Jewtown. Kazakhstan friend of all except Uzbekistan. They very nosey people with bone in their brain. Kazakhstan industry best in the world. We incented toffee and trouser belt. Kazakhstan’s prostitutes cleanest in the region. Except of course Turkmenistan’s Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan you very nice place. From Plains of Tarashek to Norther fence of Jewtown. Come grasp the might phenis of our leader. From junction with the testes to tip of its face!
It is a satirical documentary of a Kazakh journalist, played by Baron Cohen, travelling around the United States in search of Pamela Anderson.
It was banned in all Arab countries, and even some cast members sued the creators, citing its homophobic tones and sexism.
But Baron Cohen won a Golden Globe in 2007 for Best Actor: Musical or Comedy, whilst the film was also moderated as Best Motion Picture at the awards ceremony.

Things are looking good for Kazakhstan's economy as a whole, but the sex industry is still in the doldrums, according to a detailed analysis published on website Better.kz. The writer, who goes under the name Ilya Blogger, explains that the market for paid sex in Kazakhstan's commercial capital, Almaty, has remained flaccid due to rising food and fuel prices, despite the worst of the financial crisis being over.“Prices for sexual services have fallen, particularly on the Internet and in the pages of Karavan [newspaper],” Blogger writes. “If you compare what has happened with the [growing] prices for meat and potatoes, intimate services have become cheaper.” As Blogger explains, rates currently range from $100 per hour to $300 for a whole night—all fairly steep prices in a country with an average monthly salary of around $500. Although fares may not be rising, however, the range of services on offer is widening, which puts a whole new spin on Kazakhstan’s attempts at diversification. For example, it has now apparently become common for prostitutes to work in pairs.Another trend observed by Blogger is the increase in ethnic diversity among sex workers, perhaps a reflection of the growing cosmopolitanism of Almaty.Speaking with the confidence of a seemingly well-versed observer of the local market, Blogger notes that the universal craving for sex ensures that there will always be a niche for the service: “The specificity of Almaty is that there is no well-established balance between supply and demand. The process is in constant motion and there is a perennial search for compromise acceptable to both parties.” That said, the practice of adopting “Thai wives” -- a culturally dubious term referring to women who live with their customers for extended periods, during which time they also do the cooking and cleaning -- has not caught on. The most one can engage a prostitute for is one day, he writes.Blogger also refutes media reports that prostitutes in Kazakhstan are getting younger: “Quite the contrary, the contingent of prostitutes in the 30-to-36-age range has grown notably. These are mainly single mothers, but you get all sorts.” Sure enough, Almaty police have confirmed that the ranks of “night butterflies,” remain as thick as ever, despite authorities’ best efforts. According to official data, there are more than 1,500 prostitutes working in Almaty, as well as hundreds of pimps and more than a dozen “brothel organizers,” Karavan reports .On occasion, prostitutes will even take over entire hotels, as happened with the aptly named Field of Dreams hotel raided by police last year.Kazakhstani politicians have in the past called for a vigorous ban on advertising for paid sexual services, although such prohibitions are notoriously hard to enforce and. Prostitution is legal in Kazakhstan, but the US government calls the sex trade a “serious problem” in its 2009 country report on human rights for Kazakhstan and notes that “criminal prostitution rings often included local law enforcement officials.” Notices in the aforementioned Karavan tabloid customarily allude to the specific services in the most indirect possible terms, thereby theoretically avoiding unwanted attention.

Kazakhstan women are a beautiful blend of ice-cold Slavic beauties and Asian warmth. You get the best of both worlds: long legs, high cheekbones, and overall beauty of women from Russia, Ukraine, and other Former Soviet Union states.
At the same time, you can get some of the beautiful, tan Asian skin that ages so well, resulting in a really charming and unique mix.
In short, Kazakhstan women are a real treat. With that being said, Kazakhstan as a whole is a completely off-the-grid experience. It’s a country that is severely underrated by digital nomads and regular travelers.
While most of us flock to the warm weather of Thailand, Indonesia, or Vietnam, there is something to be said about exploring an unknown country.
Well, a few things actually and we’re talking about them first, before talking about the Kazakh women:
#1: It’s awesome, because your foreigner value is sky-high. Girls will be incredibly curious about an American, Brit, or other western guy who has decided to base up in Almaty or Astana. Not so much in Bangkok, Saigon, or Bali.
#2: It can feel almost pioneering . When I traveled to Kazakhstan, and have now begun writing about it, I felt like I was exploring a new frontier for digital nomads and travelers alike. There’s something to be said about being that guy.
#3: It can get lonely. It’s nice to be in large expat hubs, where you can join local groups easily and make new friends who speak the same native tongue. Not so much in Kazakhstan, but there is an easy solution to this when you’re in Eurasia.
Date some Kazakhstan women. Fire up Russian Cupid and you’re all set. At least this has worked for me.
So with that being said… let’s get started on diving deeper into Kazakh women and what you should know about them.
From the dating culture, to the long-term benefits, to the overall experience – it’s all covered in this guide.
I feel like I need to get this out of the way first. If you’re hoping to get the super-fast and easy hookups like you can get in a place like Thailand or the Philippines, you need to look elsewhere.
Sure, it can happen. That’s the case anywhere in the world. I will not sit here and tell you that it’s impossible to get a one night stand in Kazakhstan. It most certainly IS possible. But it’s not very likely.
As someone who has seen most of Eastern Europe and Asia, I think it’s important to note that there are huge differences in the overall culture. The weather alone changes things.
In Eastern Europe, the cold winters means that people want to hibernate together. This is why relationships are so important.
Girls want someone to cuddle with from November to March when the temperatures are horrible. Those days are better spent by the fire in front of a movie with hot chocolate as opposed to walking around the city.
On the flip side, Southeast Asia is practically on another planet as far as weather. People are always able to go outside. Possible exception being monsoon season, at times.
I’ll admit, this is all just a theory, but I think it holds some value.
The important thing to know is just this: in general, girls from Europe are far more difficult than Asian women for western guys. And in this case, Kazakhstan is far more European than Asian.
This means that Kazakhstan women are not going to come straight to your hotel room “for a swim”. You are not going to have thousands of Tinder matches, or hundreds of messages on online dating just for being a foreigner.
It’s going to be a bit more work overall, but Kazakhstan girls are 100% worth the effort.
Kazakhstan culture as a whole is not as open and inviting as many other Asian cultures. They tend to be more of the “Slavic cold”.
This means that if you go out to a bar and someone hears you speaking English, they’re not going to be fascinated and invite you into their group to hang out.
And yes, sometimes the Kazakh fellas are protective of the girls. They don’t want outsiders barging in.
This means you have to work a bit harder.
You should be using both Tinder and Russian Cupid .
How far out should you start messaging girls on these platforms?
I would say you should start the process two or three weeks before you’re due to arrive in Kazakhstan. Again, Kazakh girls need a little bit more comfort to come out and meet a stranger from the internet.
Internet dating is not as trendy in Kazakhstan as it is in Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, etc. It’s not the “normal” way to meet, so girls will be a bit apprehensive. But it does work if you stick to it.
That’s why it’s great to start on these platforms at least a few weeks prior to your trip. It will give you time to actually get to know the girls, and they’ll be far more receptive to coming out to meet you for a drink.
