When I was first starting out as a preschool teacher about 3 years ago, I shared a classroom with another class (taught by ex-workplace bully named B). It was a close-concept school, so we had separate classrooms with walls to keep the noise in. I was very green, and it was my first preschool so I was definitely not the best at keeping to the timetable or finishing up routines on time. B would make snide remarks to other teachers about me, and make impatient gestures as she waited for us to finish.
B was like the queen B of the teachers - there were teachers coming over to our classroom to hang out and gossip almost daily. It made it difficult for my children to sleep, but I didn't say anything because I was new.
My class had 2 children with special needs. One would wander around both our classrooms, and the other would have screaming meltdowns almost daily. When the wandering one stepped into her classroom uninvited, she would shout at him to leave. It would make me so embarrassed that I had to really keep watch on him to prevent that. As for the screamer... she complained to my vice principal about the "noise" and that I was doing nothing about it. That incident stuck with me till this day.
There were other incidents that involved her and my partner (a Chinese teacher) in class that led my partner to detest her as well, but we were both so intimidated as we were both newcomers to the industry that we did not say anything to the principal. B did tender her resignation, and the day she left we celebrated.
I'm currently working in a different preschool where I'm really happy and comfortable at. However, just today I received news that she would be joining my preschool and teaching another class at my level. Ever since I heard the news, I can't stop feeling anxious and reliving those memories again.
I would love to hear advice or if anyone dealt with a similar situation, do share them with me. I'm feeling quite defeated...
I had such a bad co worker bully that I went to therapy because of it. It was my first year teaching and they were my assistant. I would walk in the lounge or office and the whole room would get quiet or I would just flat out hear them talk about me. Another teacher actually came up to me later and said not to pay attention to what people are saying about me. That made me feel worse. I’m a stubborn person who was really bad at knowing what I needed from an instructional aide as it was my first year teaching so I know I didn’t make it easy all the time. I don’t think I deserved getting the cold shoulder from everyone this person talked to about me tho. To this day I still feel like I’m fighting for my reputation, but my students vouch for me and that’s all that matters. That person and I actually get along fine now. I just don’t think we were a good fit together. I also had a lot of growing to do. I feel for you tho, I really do. If they told me they would be my side again I wouldn’t be thrilled. I’d be anxious too. Sounds like this time they’re entering your turf now tho.

Don’t say anything but also don’t act like you know her. She might want to use you as a connection. People like that are usually shameless. Remember, this time they are the new one.
The centre I worked with was wonderful for the first year as T:C ratio was kept low for quality learning. This year, ECDA is chasing us to hit 110% of enrolment, assuring us that they will supply teachers to cover.
I think parents have to decide if what they want are teachers or nannies. For us to do both well taxes our sanity to a great degree. Also, not paid enough to do both well.
110% enrollment? Where would the kids come from?
We have children waiting, so parents have been writing to ECDA and now ECDA is chasing us. It's more like 110% of projected enrolment rate, meaning T:C ratios would be maximized and more assistant teachers/centre supports would be added to cover the extra children. However, these do not help alleviate the administrative burden for the main teachers.
Hello there, I'm sorry that you didn't get the results that you expected. However, I strongly suggest that you try to retake as a private candidate. You may choose to only retake some subjects that you're sure you can score better in.
I took my first O's in 2010, and retook 2 subs last year all while working and self studying. Freaking tiring, but doable! It will only get easier when you retake as your understanding of the subject depends. Don't lose heart!

She reported that affected member had QO but negative result.
Said she was on HQO, but retracted when questioned further.
Wanted to take leave to care for her kid because apparently the school does not want to take him in (contradicts ECDA's guidelines). If true, preschool should learn to read messages properly.
