Kathy Willets plays herself in the drama about her bizarre 90s sex scandal involving her deputy sheriff husband videotaping the wife/mom/prostitute and self-proclaimed nymphomaniac with her clients, among who rich men and a vice mayor.
Kathy Willets got her 15 minutes of fame with a nationally covered trial that landed her and husband Jeff Willets in jail. Another 15 minutes of fame came when they made this movie, and its companion (part 2, from 1996), where Kathy recreated the sexual misadventures that landed her in trouble in the first place. Jeff makes an appearance in the movie as a character other than himself. Mike Horner , in turn, plays the part of Jeff Willets and performs sex.
A porno version of the Kathy Willets story
Remember the Kathy & Jeff Willets story about her being a nymphomaniac, having sex with all kinds of men including the mayor, while her policeman husband video taped it from the closet? The story hit all the newspapers and talk show circuits back in the early 90's. She was convicted of prostitution, due to her lovers' "gifts". Well this is her story, produced not as a TV movie, but as a porno movie. As she and the actor who plays her husband are interviewed on a fictitious TV talk show, talking about their orgies, etc., you then witness about 10 minutes of exactly what that orgy looked like, in close-up. If you split the movie in two, sex-scenes versus non-sex-scenes, you have two "OK" movies, one a story and one a porno. Also, the movie is spread out in volumes, Naked Scandal 1 & 2.

On knowing (yes, in the biblical sense)

When I first had sex, it wasn't just teenage hormones. I wanted to know and be known.

Lucas Cranach the Elder, Adam and Eve, oil on panel, 1528.

The majority of young adults in America not only think they should explore different relationships, they believe it may be foolish and wrong not to.

Sex is complicated. So is Christian reflection on it.

Well-written piece, honest and helpful (sort of) ...
The essay might have been a bit more helpful if several factors had been introduced:
1) Sex has been mostly about "who are the children?" because of property and privilege, which meant that the "state of marriage" was primarily for the landed and the powerful, love wasn't a requirement for a "good marriage" needed to producing heirs. Which meant, of course, that many a landed man got married to secure an arrangement of land and power or peace between feuding families or nations, but then often carried on an affair of love with another, and it went both ways, for women and men. Love was one thing, but marriage was another, and the two were not necessarily synonymous, Love was of the heart; marriage of the genitals and politics.
2) Since rape was a common feature of tumultuous times, one was a Jew by virtue of one's Jewish mother (no question about that, even when the father was of another origin). Identity of progeny was the issue.
3) As a Presbyterian Minister for 50 years, I've seen plenty of marriages where none of the glory, and none of the kindness, existed - it's probably not helpful to make a fetish out of the "I do" stuff. As a personal note, my wife and I have been married 49 years, with two adult children. Our Christian Faith played a positive role in working things out. I'm grateful, but in way do I say to anyone else - ours is the only way.
4) In other times and cultures, people married younger, in the throes of their hormonal energies ... men didn't live all that long, dying in the field and then, later, the factory. The woman was pregnant much of the time, with spontaneous abortions, still-births, and children dying before the age of 5, occasioning much sorrow and fear, with women often dying in childbirth, as well, leaving lots of children behind, waifs cast out on their own, or raised by family members or strangers, where, it would seem from novels and reports, abuse was abundant.
5) Women were property, and before the medical understanding that women provided the egg, women were seen as a repository for the male seed ... so be passive, be compliant, and for heaven's sake, be good, lest there be some confusion about the child.
6) Sex education in home and church (marginal at best) and school (better, but could be much better) helps, and helps a great deal.
People fool around ... and as the article makes clear, evangelical boys are likely to dismiss it, while adding to the burden and guilt of the girl. The evangelical world is profoundly confused on the matter.
The author clearly sees the exceptions - friends who've lived well together, and older couples constrained by financial and other elements ...
While our culture is highly sexualized, I'm not sure, from what little history I know, that "fooling around" is more of an issue ... we are sexual critters, down to our core, driven by hormones, the need to survive, the need for love, and all the rest.
The Biblical stuff needs to be read in the context of what marriage meant (property and progeny), and less of love.
Yet, unbridled sexuality depletes our humanity and does harm to the other.
As for fooling around, it's going to happen, and so be it. When children and youth grow up in affirming families and churches, they're likely to fool around anyway, because this is what randy kids do, and kids are randy ... but in an environment of love, they're likely to be a bit more thoughtful about it ... and at the very least, use condoms ... and come out of it with experience on the road to maturity, and when and if they marry, to enjoy all that marriage affords with intimacy and laughter.
Kids will, we hope, make it through those bouncy years, going to college, getting a job, and then maybe getting married ... maybe ... and maybe finding love (which ain't all that easy), and working it out over the years (which lots of Christians never manage to do - hence the need for headship).
The article ends with the author's pain, and I have to ask, "How much of the pain is authentic, and how much of it still a lingering hurt imposed by her church and the glass of water and spit.
Pain can be real, when we realize the hurt we've done another.
Inauthentic pain is what others put on us when we fail to live their creed and code, and from that kind of pain, there is no escape - it lingers, and never heals. If we know that, it's okay, and we can contain it, by laughing at it, and seeing that it doesn't happen to others. If we don't, it eats away at us, slowly, but inexorably.

Katherine Willis Pershey’s article struck me as sadly familiar. A year ago I was told by a Christian friend that I was going to hell because I had kissed a man I wasn’t intending to marry.
Pershey mentions double standards invoked by boyfriends who enjoyed her while having sex and then shamed her afterward. This expectation of chastity is misogynistic, manipulative, and sexist. The shame it causes has no place in Christianity.

The Willis girls have never been tame.
And on Sunday the middle child, Scout Willis, reminded fans that she was still a wild child as she posed topless and with her white undies on as she sunbathed with her sister Tallulah.
The 26-year-old artist, who is a poster girl for the Free The Nipple movement, is the daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.
Shocking: Scout Willis reminded fans that she was still a wild child as she posed topless and with her white undies on as she sunbathed with her sister Tallulah; the Instagram was shared on Sunday
Hollywood vets: The 26-year-old artist, who is a poster girl for the Free The Nipple movement, is the daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore
So close: The sisters are seen here with clothes on in September in LA
Scout held her bare breasts as her brunette locks cascaded down her front.
She was revealing a small tattoo that appeared to be of the North star on her chest.
The LA and Idaho raised girl also had on white Hanes underwear. She sat with her legs open on a grey lounger in a back yard.
Scout also had on orange-tinted aviator sunglasses.
And the star added a brown hat as she flashed a beautiful emerald ring.
Also there was her sister Tallulah.
She looked comparatively tame in her white one-piece swimsuit.
The budding artist and fashion designer looked chic matching white frame sunglasses.
The family: Bruce Willis with Demi Moore and children Rumer, Scout and Tallulah at the Bandit premiere in 2001
Mommy: Their mother is screen icon Demi, seen with Tallulah in June, who has starred in St Elmo's Fire and Ghost, among dozens of other movies
The only Willis sister missing was Rumer, who is an actress and singer who gained a big following after winning Dancing With The Stars.
Scout often steps out in sheer tops to show off her chest.
She has said that if men can show their nipples, women should be able to as well.
In May 2014, Scout declared her support for the Free the Nipple campaign by posting a series of photos to social networking site Twitter showing her walking through New York City completely topless.
'What Instagram won't let you see #FreeTheNipple,' the star wrote alongside the intimate snap.
Three cheers: The only Willis sister missing was Rumer, who is an actress and singer who gained a big following after winning Dancing With The Stars; seen in 2016
