Katharine McPhee didn’t allow the failure of of her NBC show, Smash , to stop her! The American Idol alum moved right along to another network series. Last night she dropped by Late Show with David Letterman to chat about her role as a waitress and single mother in the new CBS show, Scorpion .
The show is loosely based on the life of extreme genius, Walter O’Brien. In the series, Walter’s character heads a group of crime fighting geniuses. The character Katharine plays acts as a liaison between them and the real world, while raising a genius son of her own.
Dave couldn’t resist asking Katharine, “Have you had nude photos on the internet?” which took her quite by surprise. The question is in reference to the leak of nude photos stolen from the phones of high profile actresses. NO. Katharine keeps her iCloud naked-photo-free. But she does suggest the crime could be a plot on an upcoming episode of the show!
Scorpion premiers on CBS on Monday, September 22.

A recent poll placed McPhee above beauties such as Tricia Helfer , so this isn’t exactly groundbreaking news. But it’s nice to be reminded with the pictures below, isn’t it?
The second-place finisher on last year’s American Idol has one thing in common with this year’s runner-up, Blake Lewis : neither are hard on the eyes.
And perhaps Blake should turn his attention away from Jordin Sparks or Antonella Barba and onto this talented singer. Here are excerpts from an interview McPhee recently gave Stuff magazine:
On being McNaughty and McNice:
“There are different sides of me. On American Idol , people saw the side that is very professional and put together. But there’s this other side of me that’s outgoing, energetic, and wild—and did really stupid things in college.”
On dating older men (her boyfriend, Broadway actor Nick Cokas, is 42):
“When I turned 21, I thought it was a good age to explore. You’re no longer a teenager, so it’s OK [to date older guys]. I gravitated toward them, and I love them. They’re just wiser, and they’re less about themselves and more about you.”
On her new album cover:
“People made a big deal out of that. They said, ‘She’s a slut, blah, blah, blah.’ But I’m really not showing that much skin. It’s all suggested.”
* The Hollywood Gossip note: it’s okay, Katharine. Those people were probably just referring to Lindsay Lohan .
On what younger men need to know about women:
“Women sometimes act out, and men get frustrated. They don’t get that all we want is, for a few seconds, for you to be all about the girl – to snuggle her and give her kisses and tell her ‘Your lips are so pretty today. I love your lips.'”
On being popular with the fellas:
“I was prematurely developed. As a freshman I looked like a junior; I had boobs . Some of the older kids saw me in the yearbook and said I was cute.”
On settling down:
“Oh yeah. I want to have, like, 15 babies. I’ve always wanted to be pregnant. One year for Halloween, I decided to be pregnant, so I got this nun costume, and I put a big belly under it. I showed my parents and said I want to go to school as a pregnant nun. My dad sat me down and said, “Katharine, you can’t!”

It's another case of life imitating art as actress Katharine McPhee was caught kissing married "Smash" director Michael Morris , in a scandal that's quite similar to a plotline on their now-canceled show.
McPhee, 29, is also married, but the photos of her making out with Morris aren't likely to do any more damage to her marriage than has already been done, as multiple reports say she's been separated from her husband of five years, Nick Cokas, for the past six months . Still, the actress isn't pleased she was caught kissing a married man.
"She is SO embarrassed she was caught," a source told Us Weekly. "She should have known better!"
And while it seems as though McPhee's own marriage was already over, there's always the worry that a cheating scandal could have a negative impact on her career. Public relations experts seem to disagree on exactly how the photos may change things for the former "American Idol" contestant.
Jamie Krauss, PR director at the Narrative Group, told FOX411 that while the scandal probably won't affect her sales or ability to get roles in the future, her "likability factor will be seriously tarnished."
But with so many A-list celebs at the center of cheating scandals it doesn't always seem like being labeled a cheater is a career killer at all.
“Katharine McPhee having an affair with this director, this sort of thing usually helps someone’s career in this day and age,” Director of Maxim TV Ken Shadford explained to the website. “Just this side of a sex tape, getting in the scandal sheets is sort of the way to go to help your career.”

Following much anticipation, they exchanged vows at the St Yeghiche Armenian Church in South Kensington, London, last Friday.
And Katharine McPhee, 35, and her her new husband David Foster, 69, appeared to be living it up as they continued to soak up the sunshine during their honeymoon in Capri on Friday.
Brunette beauty Katharine hearkened back to her American Idol days she belted out a song — complete with an energetic dance routine — while relaxing in a yellow string bikini aboard a luxury yacht.

The star, who runner-up on American Idol's fifth season in 2006, looked sensational in her swimwear of choice, which she teamed with gold necklaces and a bracelet.
With her chestnut brown locks tied up in a relaxed bun, she sang into an imaginary microphone, before enjoying a cooling swim in the welcoming Mediterranean Sea.
Shielding her eyes from the intense summer sunshine with a pair of stylish aviator shades, the displayed her natural beauty as she went makeup-free.

There were nearly 100 guests at the wedding, including David's two daughters, Sarah and Erin, whom he shared from a previous marriage with Rebecca Dyer.
The singer has changed her legal name after getting wed and took to Twitter after the ceremony, writing: 'Introducing Katharine Foster'.

In her pre-wedding post, Katharine shared a clip of her cover of the Wizard of Oz classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow, as she told fans it was released 13 years to the day before her wedding.
The caption read: 'Exactly 13 years ago today my very first single, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, was released right after Idol.
'Today... I’m marrying the man who produced it. Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David. '
The two sparked dating rumours back in May 2017 while having dinner at Nobu in Malibu and haven't spoken much about their relationship to the public.
