Katharine McPhee not only has a voice that stops a room but also has an incredibly striking beauty. She gained national fame after she came in second place during season 5 of American Idol in 2006 and has since landed roles in movies and on Broadway. These days, she’s often traveling the world with husband David Foster and making us all jealous of her spectacular bikini vacay content.
The couple welcomed their son, Rennie, in February 2021 and Katharine quickly got in shape after giving birth. The Canadian native praised his wife for her amazing physique by posting a photo of the Carrie star in a swimsuit asking, “ what baby ?” Critics slammed the famous composer for his comments, which led the House Bunny actress to defend her husband.
“ People freaking out about what my husband captioned seriously get a life … stop being so offended by what people post who have zero impact on your life and move on,” she captioned her December 2021 swimsuit photo while revealing that she has dealt with fluctuating weight since her 20’s. “Maybe you should have more of an attitude of like, let’s say … ‘Oh that’s nice he thinks his wife is hot.’ I cannot with this overly sensitive society right now.”
Although she has maintained a noteworthy post-baby figure, the In My Dreams star struggled with her changing body throughout her pregnancy and after giving birth. She has been open about her health struggles after announcing she battled with bulimia for five years.
“Even though you know your body is going to change, and you expect that, if you’re someone who has control issues with your body, psychologically, it just does something different,” she said during an Instagram Live in February 2022.
“It played with my mind a little bit. I was losing control and I was going back to this old, disordered version of myself, which was upsetting because I just wanted to enjoy my baby.”
On top of being a mother and entertainer, Katharine recently partnered with the bra brand MINDD and launched an environmentally friendly collection that features bras, underwear and bodysuits. The “Night and Day” singer actively promoted the collection on her Instagram through a series of beach side portraits.
“I am to be working with a female-founded bra company that is deeply committed to sustainability,” she captioned her April 2022 announcement. “I had such a blast shooting in the Pacific Ocean and I’m so grateful to organizations like @Oceana for everything they do to preserve it.”

After trolls slammed her husband for showing off her post-baby body, Katharine responded in the best way … by posting another bikini picture.

A versatile singer and actress, Katharine McPhee brought her first success as a runner-up in American Idol’s fifth season to a long career. In the 2000s and 2010s, she not only balanced roles in television series like Smash and Scorpion with her music, but she also demonstrated her breadth as a singer. Alongside frequent collaborations with idol writers such as Randy Jackson, Andrea Bocelli and David Foster, McPhee’s gentle style felt at home on pop albums like his self-titled debut in 2007 and Hysteria in 2015, as well as on more traditional dishes like I Fall in 2017 Love Too Light.
McPhee was originally from Sherman Oaks, California, and she began singing at the age of two. Her mother, Patricia McPhee, is an established singer herself, performing and recording as Peisha McPhee. She helped Katharine develop as a singer and later served with
McPhee’s older sister Adriana as a vocal coach on American Idol. Although McPhee sang and performed throughout her childhood and school years, she took singing seriously in college and attended the Boston Conservatory as a major in musical theater. After three semesters, however, she went to Los Angeles to audition for film and television jobs.
McPhee played roles in Crazy, a musical about Hank Garland, and an MTV series, You Are Here, which didn’t make it to the air. She also appeared in the productions of Annie Get Your Gun and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir before auditioning for American Idol in 2005.
After McPhee reached the last 12 years, her appearances on songs like “Someone to Watch Over Me”, “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” made her one of the judges on American Idol. and the favorite of the spectators. In May 2006, she became the runner-up of the fifth season, Taylor Hicks.
After the end of the American Idol season, McPhee was hired by entertainment artist Simon Fuller from the 19 Recordings Limited label and released her first single, Somewhere Over the Rainbow / My Destiny; It reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the second best single of 2006.
A few months later, she joined the remaining finalists and hicks of American Idols LIVE! Tour and also tour with Andrea Bocelli, who appeared as a guest judge on American Idol. She also worked on a version of Can’t Help Falling in Love, which appeared on Bocelli’s 2006 album Under the Desert Sky.

It's another case of life imitating art as actress Katharine McPhee was caught kissing married "Smash" director Michael Morris , in a scandal that's quite similar to a plotline on their now-canceled show.
McPhee, 29, is also married, but the photos of her making out with Morris aren't likely to do any more damage to her marriage than has already been done, as multiple reports say she's been separated from her husband of five years, Nick Cokas, for the past six months . Still, the actress isn't pleased she was caught kissing a married man.
"She is SO embarrassed she was caught," a source told Us Weekly. "She should have known better!"
And while it seems as though McPhee's own marriage was already over, there's always the worry that a cheating scandal could have a negative impact on her career. Public relations experts seem to disagree on exactly how the photos may change things for the former "American Idol" contestant.
Jamie Krauss, PR director at the Narrative Group, told FOX411 that while the scandal probably won't affect her sales or ability to get roles in the future, her "likability factor will be seriously tarnished."
But with so many A-list celebs at the center of cheating scandals it doesn't always seem like being labeled a cheater is a career killer at all.
“Katharine McPhee having an affair with this director, this sort of thing usually helps someone’s career in this day and age,” Director of Maxim TV Ken Shadford explained to the website. “Just this side of a sex tape, getting in the scandal sheets is sort of the way to go to help your career.”

American Idol alum Katharine McPhee has had one of the most successful careers of all the show's contestants. Despite coming in second place on the series' fifth season in 2006, she was able to smoothly transition to acting and land starring roles in two big network TV shows, namely 2012's Smash and 2014's Scorpion . But despite reaching her career goals, she has been unable to stay out of the headlines... for all the wrong reasons. Here's everything you need to know about Katharine McPhee's shady side.
Despite being married to producer Nick Cokas since 2008, Katharine McPhee was spotted smooching another man in 2013. But it wasn't just any man: It was her Smash director, Michael Morris, who himself was married to actress Mary McCormack at the time. The 29-year-old was caught in the adulterous act, which took place outside I Panini Di Ambra in Hollywood, by paparazzi who photographed her kissing her colleague after having had lunch with him inside. As E! News observed, McPhee did not seem to be wearing her wedding ring.
After news of her infidelity made headlines, the American Idol runner-up was caught in the middle of a media frenzy, but according to Us magazine, what outsiders didn't know was that she had already been separated from her hubby for "at least six months." Speaking with the outlet, an unnamed source appeared to try to justify the infidelity, saying that McPhee had already split from her husband of five years and that she had "had friends living with her for months." Another source was quoted as adding that "she is SO embarrassed she was caught. She should have known better!"
Nine months after McPhee was first photographed being unfaithful to her husband, she and Nick Cokas were spotted out together in an apparent effort to try to make their marriage work. The pair was caught by paparazzi walking their three dogs in Los Angeles and appeared to be on good terms, smiling and even taking a coffee break together at Tiago Café. E! News reached out to the actress' rep for comment about the public outing, a first in five months, but received no answer. An anonymous source, however, confirmed that the couple was indeed trying to mend their broken relationship.
Despite being photographed spending time with her estranged hubby in March 2014, McPhee's marriage was officially over in February 2016. Two years after her cheating scandal first broke, the couple's divorce was finalized and McPhee was ordered to pay her former partner substantial spousal support.
As TMZ reported, the actress claimed that her separation took place in March 2013, but her soon-to-be ex argued it had actually been much later, citing May 2014. The court ended up siding with Corkas, which resulted in the actress having to pay him 50 percent of all the income she made during their time together. This included half of her earnings from Smash , as well as "income from her music rights on all songs made during their marriage, which includes some still unreleased songs."
What's more, the outlet reported that "her $700k contract with Columbia/Epic Records is also getting split down the middle" and while she got to keep a 2012 Mercedes Benz M Class SUV, Corkas walked away with a 2013 Jeep Wrangler.
