Is Kate Middleton planning to expand her brood this year? Multiple rumors say the Duchess of Cambridge has baby fever. Let’s check in on the beloved future queen consort.
Back in January, OK! reported Kate Middleton was getting the itch to have another baby . “Kate would love to have a fourth child, especially another girl,” an insider told the tabloid. “She and William don’t want to wait any longer. They could have an exciting announcement before long if all goes well.” But before the article concluded, it revealed that Meghan Markle was also trying to get pregnant. “Friends are saying Meghan’s feeling the maternal urges again and is seriously considering one more,” a tipster mused.
But we were immediately skeptical of this report for a few reasons. First of all, we seriously doubted anyone would have such personal knowledge about Kate Middleton. But when the tipster brought up Meghan Markle’s alleged baby fever as well, we were absolutely certain that this anonymous source was completely disingenuous.
Only a month later, OK! reported Kate Middleton was under pressure to have another child . After Meghan Markle, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice all welcomed children within a year, sources said Middleton was fielding questions about her brood. “When everyone was having their babies last year, Kate did get a little broody,” the snitch dished. “Suddenly, she had everyone in William’s family asking her if they were going to have one more.”
Of course, we pointed out the painful irony of this story. While the magazine insisted Middleton was growing uncomfortable with all of the baby speculation, it was the real one putting her under pressure. And once we looked back at the outlet’s past reporting on Middleton, it became abundantly clear that the magazine was just responding to its own inaccurate reporting with this dubious story.
Finally, Life & Style reported Middleton and Prince William were on the verge of sharing some exciting news : They had not one, but two children on the way. “There’s buzz among Kate’s inner circle that she’s four months pregnant—and expecting twins!” an insider confessed. “She’s been going to doctor’s appointments and wearing jackets to hide a small bump. But if you look really closely, it’s there!”
Sometimes, the best way to tell if a story is genuine is to give it time. For one, Middleton was just photographed happily sampling local beers at a festival.
It’s also worth noting that this report went to print over two months ago. So, according to the tabloid’s timeline, Middleton would now be over six months along. And fans might remember that Middleton’s figure at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere stole the show just a couple of weeks ago . She certainly wasn’t sporting a baby bump, so now there’s no denying the magazine was barking up the wrong tree with this story.

Expanding their brood? Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton have sparked rumors that she will be pregnant with baby No. 4 soon.
It turns out, the couple has been teasing having another kid for a while. An insider told Us Weekly in 2019 the royal duo “would love to have one more child.” They welcomed their oldest son, Prince George , in July 2013 followed by Princess Charlotte in May 2015. Kate then gave birth to their youngest child, son Prince Louis , in April 2018.
It’s been a blast watching their little ones grow up and get closer over the years. Surprisingly, the trio loves the same activities as any other kids. “They love playing together and being creative,” the insider continued about the young siblings. “Painting, baking and building things are all activities they enjoy, and now that Louis’ a bit older, he gets involved too.”
Of course, like with any young kids, George, Charlotte and Louis do get into little tiffs from time to time. “[It’s] usually over silly things like toys or what TV shows they want to watch, but most of the time they get on,” the source divulged.
That being said, William and Kate are raising some seriously talented kids. “They’re bilingual and can already speak fluent Spanish, thanks to their nanny Maria Barrallo ,” an insider previously told Life & Style about the little royals. “Even Louis is picking up certain words and tries to say ‘Hola.’”
“Charlotte and George are well ahead of a majority of their school friends in the language department,” the insider continued. “William, who speaks five languages — English, French, Swahili, Welsh and Gaelic — asked Maria to introduce Spanish to the kids at an early age so that it would come naturally to them and it’s worked.”
While they’re killing it in the parenting department, the royal couple have also worked hard to keep their marriage strong. Prince William even managed to “ organize something super special ” for their nine-year wedding anniversary in April 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“They’ve had a stormy year, but they’ve pulled through and are stronger than ever,” a second insider told Life & Style at the time.

“Having four children was always part of Kate’s plan,” a separate insider told Us Weekly in February 2021. “She put the idea on hold when [the coronavirus pandemic] hit, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine and [Prince George and Princess Charlotte] scheduled to return to school in April.”
“She feels ready to start trying again,” teased the insider about their pregnancy plans. She’s even been preparing her body with a “nutrient-rich” diet.
“It took a while for Kate to convince William, though. He said that three children is more than enough. The thought of having four made him feel overwhelmed,” continued the insider. “But Kate’s desires to have another child have inspired him, and at the end of the day, he loves and appreciates the secure family setting he never had growing up. Why not make it bigger? After taking some time to think about it, he’s on the same page and is excited about the future.”
Queen Elizabeth II is “overjoyed” with William and Kate’s plans to expand their brood, the insider said.
“She adores her great-grandchildren. She’s slightly concerned that the Cambridges are biting off more than they can chew, especially as Kate isn’t planning to employ another nanny (as she wants to be hands-on), but as long as they’re happy, she’s happy,” explained the insider.
