I have to disagree with the other reviewers here and praise this film. Maybe part of the reason I got so much out of it was that I wasn't expecting much and got pleasantly suprised. I wasn't expecting much because I'd recently seen a couple other of Walker's films (House of Whipcord and another) and thought they were completely without artistic merit. But this one is really quite a good film. Much like an Italian Giallo, there is a nice combination of spine-tingling suspense, cool outfits and set pieces, and softcore sexuality. The story is quite compelling, Susan George is great as the sexy and troubled go-go dancer on the run, Judy Huxtable and the guy who plays the evil father are palpably hateable . . . This is a Pete Walker film that actually has a story worth paying attention to, and a mood that takes you in from the first scene and doesn't let you go until the final credits.
A great trip down memory lane. This film may not be the greatest or deepest one ever made, but it certainly is a beautiful period piece: great 70's outfits, London scenery, style and two perfectly beautiful 70's heart-throbs -- Susan George and Barry Evans. You may remember Barry from the 'Doctor in the House' and 'Doctor at Large' series, among others. He was the perfect 70's package: beautifully sweet face, great hair, nice body, good little actor, and bi-sexual. His life may not have been the happiest, but he was a delight to watch. He pretty much always played the cutie that everyone wanted to sleep with, and his innocence and ingenue nature always elevated his liaisons above anything sleazy.
Although advertised as a horror film, this Pete Walker-directed film is more of a thriller about two sisters separated; one living with the mother in England and another living with the father, a crooked judge, in Portugal. When the mother dies and one of the girls stands to inherit a lot of money, along with documents that will incriminate the father, the crooked judge will stop at nothing to get those documents in his possession, including resorting to murder. Made in 1970, this was Walker's first stab at a thriller and while it is not as bad as some people say it is, it is also not up to snuff of Walker's later horror films, including FRIGHTMARE, HOUSE OF WHIPCORD, HOUSE OF MORTAL SIN, SCHIZO and THE COMEBACK. Not a complete failure and worth it if you are a Walker completist (like I am), but other may be bored by the slower than normal pacing than what we are use to from Walker.
If you love Susan George as much as I do this film is for you. The picture quality is gorgeous in BluRay and everything is beautiful. The script and story is may be a bit weak but it is very interesting nonetheless. I wouldn't get rid of it at any time, so it shows that it's good enough for me and I recommend it!
cool movie, a good watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I'm a huge Susan George fan, great cast, good story an all around good watch.

Marianne (Susan George, Tintorera…Tiger Shark) has been on the run from her family and the criminals they’ve hired, because on her 21st birthday, she inherits millions of dollars from her mother and the legal papers that will incriminate her father, the Judge (Leo Genn, A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin). After being chased by those criminals away from her go-go dancing job, Marianne meets up with Sebastian, who takes her to London and tries to marry her. She’s not all that into it, so she plays with him and writes the name of his best man Eli on the wedding certificate. She starts to fall for Eli at the same time that she learns that her father had hired Sebastian to bring his daughter back to him. Meanwhile, Marianne’s sister Hildegard has been in love with her father — and I mean in love in the most sexual of sense — and wants to kill her sister. Of course, she also gets with Sebastian and tries to put the moves on Eli. Your enjoyment will depend on how much you like 1970’s kitsch and the directorial style of Peter Walker (Schizo, The Comeback).

Painfully bad...
As with many others, I've been a big fan of Susan George, & she looks as beautiful here as ever. Sadly though, this film is one to forget - and a great pity too, as the early 70s is my favourite era for British movies, & the actual story sounded promising. It has a very muddled narrative & feels very disjointed - looking as though those involved were enjoying their time on location in sunny Portugal, rather than trying to craft a decent film! The whole film has an air of self-indulgence, which disconnects you as a viewer - & it's not long before terminal boredom sets. I couldn't even last until the end - I gave up! I guess it only serves now
