Kaoru “Kay” Oshima recalls her experiences as a young Kibei Nisei, a Japanese American born in the United States but educated in Japan. Oshima describes her experience coming back to the United States from Japan and how she and her family moved to avoid camp before eventually being forced into Gila River WRA Concentration Camp. She reflects on how the wartime experience was a great loss and tragedy for Japanese Americans, the incarceration’s psychological impacts on her well-being, and how things could have been different for her and her family if the incarceration had never happened.

Kaoru Ooshima is a TV personality and an author. He's a genuine girlyboy who is open about not taking estrogen and not having any operations. He performed as a "girlyboy adult film actress," and he was the first man in the history of Japan's adult film industry under contract as an actress by a major adult film studio who was not taking estrogen and didn't have any operations. He retired in June 2015. His work schedule is wide-ranging, such as producing events and public talks, among other things.
