Family: Raised by his mother, Sachiko. His father disappeared before he was born. They lived poor in a cramped apartment where the walls shook from neighbors yelling. Sachiko worked two jobs to support them, and Kaoru learned early: “If life is hard, laugh louder than anyone else.”
