College student Ken Kaneki is thrust into some conflict in anime Tokyo Ghoul. These cosplays capture him perfectly.
In the dark fantasy world of Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul , flesh-hungry humanoids called ghouls hunt for food and for fun on the streets, and no one is safe from them. Meanwhile, college student Ken Kaneki is thrust into this ghoul-vs-human conflict when a ghoul named Rize is badly injured, and her organs are transplanted into him. Now he, too, is a ghoul.
Ken Kaneki is an action hero, and while struggling at first with his ghoul identity, he soon learns to accept his monstrous nature and takes the fight to any ghoul who opposes his will! With a powerful kagune and a cool mask, he is a real standout among the ghouls, and he earns a terrifying reputation. Now, let's meet ten cosplayers who expertly made themselves into this grim hero.
To begin, we get a cosplayer Unravel.Cosplay who portrays Ken experimenting with the extent of his new ghoul powers. All ghouls have a kagune, fleshy extensions that can act as blades or tentacles, and every single one looks different.
Ken is no exception, and he acquired Rize's four-armed kagune and uses it to deadly effect in combat. This cosplayer shows Ken in a quiet and anonymous place as he manifests his kagune, and we like the atmosphere of this cosplay. It's eerie and reclusive.
Now we get a frontal view of Ken Kaneki, and this is how he looks about halfway through the original Tokyo Ghoul manga series. Early on, he looked human enough, but after suffering torture, he snapped and accepted his ghoul form without question.
Ken's hair turned gray and he started wearing his black leather mask more often, and this cosplayer brings it all to the table, not to mention some excellent kagune props. Ken offers you a hand... out of compassion, or mercy?
We're three for three on Ken cosplays that bring his kagune to the fore. After all, that is one cool kagune, and these cosplayers did a bang-on job recreating Ken's extra limbs for combat.
It would be just like a ghoul to stalk someone in an empty parking garage like this, manifest their kagune, then move in for the kill. As a bonus, this cosplayer added the kagune's red effects to their chest, too, to make the kagune look even more comprehensive. It's totally a part of Ken's body, no question.
This time, the cosplayer forgoes a kagune in favor of a very moody and mysterious shot. We're seeing Ken up close, and he's wearing one of his scariest masks yet, one that emphasizes his one-eyed ghoul nature.
It's a big deal to be a one-eyed ghoul, since these creatures are rare and quite powerful. We bet that many of Ken's victims saw a scene like this right before he impaled them with his kagune! Either that, or he's about to interrogate the interviewer, and we wouldn't want to be in that position, either.
One thing to know about Ken: he started off as a pacifist of sorts, who wouldn't even harm a human to feed his intense hunger. And during combat, he aimed to protect the innocent rather than fight for selfish reasons.
Boy, does that change. Ken is now a ghoul warrior to be feared, and this cosplayer gives us a Ken Kaneki who is openly challenging anyone who can handle a one-eyed ghoul in combat. Not many can take him on, though many may try, all the same.
Some cosplayers like to swap a character's sex for a cosplay, and they are some of the most creative cosplays out there. This time we around, we get a girl Ken Kaneki, and she has the gray hair of someone who has endured horrible torture.
Not to mention that trademark mask, black leggings, a skirt, and cool boots that only a tough girl like this Ken would wear. And posing in front of a graffitied wall is just right for Tokyo Ghoul 's dark, urban setting. And it's spooky how we can't even see her eyes...
This cosplayer shows us a side of Ken's personality that keeps him from becoming a shallow thug of a lead character. Ken has always been the bookish type, and he enjoys college life. Even after becoming a ghoul, he doesn't dare miss class, and he tried his best to maintain his human, college-student life.
Later on, during rare moments of down time, Ken hits the books, and it's therapeutic to him. He also shares his literary passion with Hinami, who really appreciates it. Those round glasses are just what a bookworm like Kaneki needs!
We bring you not one, but two gender-bender Ken Kaneki cosplays, and they're both a great take on the character. This time, lady Ken forgoes the mask in favor of a confident and assertive expression, to proclaim herself the queen of ghouls on these mean streets.
We also like lady Ken's wavy gray hair, and the effects for her left ghoul eye are outstanding. As for the kagune, the cosplayer chose a more plush style, rather than a hard, metallic version. Looks good to us!
Ken is among the most powerful ghouls out there, and he is tireless in his quest to take down the Aogiri Tree gang and find the truth about Rize, the doctor who made him a ghoul, and himself. No one can get in his way.
In this cosplay, a fully confident Ken Kaneki has established himself as king of the ghouls, and by this point, we're not surprised. He has fully embraced this lifestyle, and he's all decked out to match! Just look at all those chains on his outfit.
For the final entry of Ken Kaneki cosplay, we bring Ken and a guest. Touka Kirishima is one of the first ghouls Ken ever met, and she scorned him at first, but soon became an important ally of his. Even a friend.
In this shot, Ken is dressed to the lines, and his kagune's rusty red color contrasts nicely with his black and white suit. He's got the mask, too, and Touka stays anonymous courtesy of a leather jacket. No one messes with these ghouls and gets away with it!

Love this jacket. It’s so soft and warm, and the thumb holes on the sleeves were an unexpected but lovely surprise. If you don’t like them, they can easily be cuffed to a regular length. Color (teal) is bright and vivid, and the jacket is sturdy and well made. The pockets on the inside aren’t stitched in place, so it’s easy for them to get bunched up or twisted, but that’s an easy fix with a safety pin or something. Since the jacket is made of fleece, I would not recommend washing it in hot water or drying it, only cold water hand wash. Buy this jacket!
