Last patient of the day is running late, says they NEED new glasses as they're BLIND without them, normally I'll tell them to reschedule but I decide to stay late in case they're -10.00 or something like that.
I have NV & DV corrections for my LE and only NV correction for my RE. Instead of using a bifocal all the time, I was thinking of getting a separate unifocal Reading Glass while I work. Based on my attached prescription, can you pls suggest what magnification should I look for while shopping? TIA.
Got fitted for clariti 1-day toric lenses, can I try other brands ?
Is it possible to have just lenses put into frames.
Could this gray patch at the bottom of my iris be a corneal ulcer?

Recently had an equally frustrating scenario. Five minutes before closing & I’ve already got my things all packed to go. A front desk staff member rushes back to the exam room saying we have a walk-in emergency. The guy had just been jumped - we have to see him! Ok, fine. His eye is red (subconj heme). I bring him back & start taking a history. Me: “So when did this happen?!” Patient: “oh, about 2 weeks ago.” Me (internally): 😐 could have waited till tomorrow bud
To get the NV Rx, you literally add the “add” to the first part of the Rx (hence the name). So in your case, it would be: +1.00 right / +1.50 left.
Thanks. I read somewhere, DV correction is negative (-) in value and near correction is positive (+) in value. In that case, can you pls double check your suggestion that the left would be +1.50 instead of +0.50 (by adding 1.00 with -0.50)?
Apologies, if I'm completely wrong here.
It can be a negative or positive number, depending on if you are nearsighted or farsighted. As someone else commented, the handwriting is not exactly clear so I would suggest calling to verify. But you are right about the math, just depending on what the actual Rx is

You are definitely able to try another brand. Patients are re-fit to different lenses all the time due to issues with cost or comfort. I will also say that daily lenses are likely going to be the most comfortable & hygienic for the eyes. There are other modalities that last longer (two week & one month lenses) that usually cost less per box. These you have to be diligent about proper hygiene like taking them out at night and using a case & fresh solution to store them (additional expense not needed with dailies). It kind of varies from person to person which type of lens is best / most cost effective! Also, keep in mind that if you order lenses online, you won’t be able to use any insurance benefits or rebates offered by the company.
Yes that it possible and happens all the time. I would recommend going to a local optical with frame in hand, they can take it from there
Agreed with the above comments. You should go in today, they will accept you as a walk-in “medical emergency” even if you don’t have an appointment. It could be an ulcer, but the doc will tell you for sure. I would suggest not wearing any contact lenses today!
