I wonder why is there no pvp peak when iron banner launched? I think in that week I played almost only pvp and so did my clan. I thought there were more people who did the same. IB weekends would see a bunch of us on running as a 6 pack for most of the evenings. I guess a lot of people feel the same way. When I heard how low the armor drops were and that emblem reward, I just stopped. Again it was all cosmetic, no thanks. I got a few guns, boots and a cloak, done. What did you expect? They need to majorly rework the pvp sandbox to make it fun and interesting again. I think the daily PvP numbers you see on Destiny Tracker are 'inflated' because of the fact that they have tied a larger weekly reward to it than in D1. You have more people chasing that Engram every week than the rewards in D1 especially since its one of the few ways to get a higher PL drop. Now its fashion-with-friends for a week and then leave, come back when dlc launches for new wardrobe, leave again repeat. The fashion element of the game went out the window with the crappy shader system. Funny enough, after playing D2 for three weeks and realizing the loot system is garbage, I came back to TD. Have been playing for like two weeks and just enjoying it, and prepping for 1. That would be an incredible feat. For different reasons. TD was broken and from a technical view looked developed by noobs. D2 from the sound of it lacks content. PC here. Did no one actually look at the graph, or are we all bad at math? I think there may be a bit of a misunderstanding here. The Destinytracker graph shows unique logins. So different people, per day. While that has gone down from day 1, what it does not mean is that the D2 playerbase has gone from 4 million to 1 million and those 3 million have permamently quit. It just means that everyone playing is not necessarily logging in every day anymore. I wrote this below as well, but OP not only misunderstands the numbers, but he is blatantly wrong about them. This is an excellent point. Makes perfect sense. My friends and I used to log in every day to play. So some weeks like this we only get 1 hour in. You and I have polar opposite views of why we play Destiny. The gameplay in and of itself of Destiny 2 is way too bland to hold my attention. Destiny 1 was a leader and blazing a trail that other games did not touch on for consoles. D2 feels about as generic an effort for PVP I have seen. It also ignored the fact that 2 millionish sign on to both pvp and pve. Granted there is likely a lot of overlap but there are still some who only do one or the other. These numbers are kind of useless for figuring out the actual playerbase. There is way too much wrong with these calculations than I have time to list. Suffice it to say, you are using data to confirm a bias you already have. In , allow players to select which game modes they want to play in multiplayer. Crazy thought right! Not all the way to CoD, but a lot so that team shooting would be less necessary. Hell no. Have you not seen what a mess CoD has been in recent years? Here is a little difference. Call of duty knows what it is. Destiny is ONLY a pve game and caters to pvp only. A huge amount of removal and 'rebalance ' was because of pvp. That is why cod holds its core player base than destiny does. It creates a core, caters for someone else, and still fucks it up. Destiny has been out over 3 years and in development for like 8 years. I gotta disagree about Destiny not being a PvP game. Maybe not for you but the only thing that kept me in D1 was PvP and they have completely decimated here with D2. For one, I was a massive PvP player on D1. Now I prefer playing PvE on D2. CoD started as single-player focused. It evolved because of how well it was implemented in CoD4. Four games it took before CoD became synonymous with PvP. After about two weeks, thats it. Nothing to save up for. Level ? Nothing to gain. I think this is incorrect statement. If they truly only saw issue with PvP balance, then they could have overcome that by many of the suggestions thrown here. Good example are all the raid perks. Not sure who to believe!! I see five major errors in your analysis. I encourage you to have the scientific honesty to address these claims either rebutting or conceding in an amended version of your original post. This is true. Even though the source seems to no longer exist a reverse lookup shows the links specifically say this is for the PC version and only for NA. And the thousands who upvoted it spent less time critically thinking about it then they did finding and clicking the up arrow. Did you really put the edits that have information that directly invalidates the data and the conclusions that you are drawing in 'fine print. Holy shit this is the worst kind of post. Yeah but according to Luke Smith and Bungie everything is going just fine, all according to plan Is the Call of Duty chart daily unique players or is it concurrent players? Usually, there is no context and wild theories and proclamations of game death follow. Why is a comparison between two totally different games relevant? They just wanted your preorder and microtransaction money, which they got and are still getting. The cycle will repeat. The endgame for Shadow of War, 'shadow wars' is much more engaging than this game right now. I have literally no reason to be playing it regularly any more. Still buying the game and hopefully it will develop a community. We will have to see though. Some changes to this game just boggle the mind. Like one of the devs coming in here, I forget who, but saying now nightfalls are all timed so no more 2 hour runs with icebreaker solo. Like how did this hurt D1? If you wanted to do a 2 hour run solo with an iebreaker, godspeed, bro. Its a challenge and content for that dude for a few hours, lol. Team shoot or die. No individual skill or oppoprtunities for skill. Nothing is satisfying. No goal to reach. Hold up now. I quit after 2 weeks. I played 3 years everyday on D1. The problem is people are realising that bungie is just very good at convincing new players that they are buying a great fun, exciting, rewarding game only for them to find out shortly after that:. I want to see these stats after the PC release, I wonder if people that are not D1 players will appreciate D2 especially being on PC and I wonder what the player base drop off will be after the same amount of time. Im probably gonna be one of them :Cant choose my own crucible playlist :Fixed rolls :Ttk in crucible is to slow : Prestige content doesnt offer anything more than normal shit : Mods are lack luster. Just release a good game, the gamers will take care of your sales. The paid content model is very profitable. The numbers may be dropping but they still sold 3. How much have people spent on Silver? Half the people raging on here will buy the next expansion as well. Because they arent. No matter how many times some person on reddit is trying to sell that notion it doesnt make it any more true than when it was first said. More like CDPR? So basically treat your employees like utter trash, give them abysmal working conditions and little to no pay? Because CDPR has GoG to fund its game, most people tend to forget that having an entire sales platform behind it makes a ton of revenue. Not to mention the fact that CDPR is known for low pay compared to other game companies and long work weeks. I went back to D1 yesterday. I was absolute kiting round a pillar and still killed 3 people with my luna by just moving well and landing shots. Would love to know the site in which there are charts like this posted. Some interesting mental gymnastics going on in the comment section today: 'nooo the game is fine! Who cares if people are leaving in droves? Muh friend game! We currently have 1. Black Ops launched with , players according to your chart. For a title like CoD, the vast majority of its players are the same ones that buy every CoD. I feel like posts like these should be deleted. They are misleading and pushing false narratives. Destiny 2 player here, have not touched it in 2 weeks. Even missed the faction rally. I had fun, did most of the strikes, tried the crucible, did the raid. I miss the old variety we had in crucible. I want more strikes. The raid takes forever and is still hard to out a group together. Mario comes out next week. Star wars in a month. I have other games. That said That should not be the case with a game like this. If Bungie cares about anyone playing their game, the only way to relay this to them is to not play. Bungie took the grind away for strike specific loot and weapon rolls. In doing so, they took away replayability. Funny how they tried making this game more casual friendly and ended up fucking everything up. Their approach to make a more casual friendly game even drove away the casuals. This is kind of a OK duh moment. COD is still one of heaviest hitters of the industry and the people that buy COD tend to stick with it. Yes, and keep checking this sub to see if they sort out this pile of shit Cancelled my 14 sub, suspended my gamefly account, bought D2 on psn Didnt want to make the mistake of D1 on disc for 3 years. Counting down the days to battlefront 2 at this point. D2 just doesnt have the same feel as d1. D1 was flawed and took 3 years to become amazing but it always felt good to play and d2 just doesnt have that imo. Wait and see how the first DLC and the transition to Season 2 changes things, get an idea of what the Live Team intends to do, and then reconsider buying it. Thank you for posting this. Destiny 2 blows. It is wildly inaccurate and a ridiculous misinterpretation of the Destiny tracker. The circle jerk must be reaching Category 5! Category 5?!? This circle jerk is off the scale right now. This is embarrassing for the sub. Mods should have called this out as BS to preserve the little dignity this sub has left. I think people on these subs radically underestimate how differently the average player actually plays, and how small a minority us hardcores are. Twitch figures are definitely representative of only the most committed. This crap agin, twitch means nothing to a games succes, sales is all that matters. Small portions of a younger audience will watch people play a game. Which is just plain wrong. Game is empty, no meaning to end game. Rip my playtime. Now nobody on my friends list is playing this game anymore. Maybe less time posting this same image over and over again, as if no one has posted it before, more time doing some maths study. I got bored real quick with this game. I only did the raid once, and I honestly have no desire to do it again. Last trials I played the same team in 4 of the 7 matches. And that was at peak time on a Saturday. First off I love the game. Got it on opening day and played it for a while. Keep in mind there will be a percentage of the playerbase that bought it on console and then stopped while waiting for the pc launch. Is the COD chart accurate? Everyone can discuss ttk or whatever, that stuff goes right over my head. D2 is weirdly empty on patrol - even with Adventures, Lost Sectors, etc - and my friends list is blank because nobody is ever on. My guess is that they are additive, meaning there was about 7m player at launch. I had to go out of my way to figure out why I could t get anything to drop to improve my gear. Are these daily or weekly graphs? They streamlined things and made changes to try and artificially extend the grind with the way the gear drops work. Luminous engrams are the only ones worth getting. Destiny 1 had it right. They focused mainly on pve then did SOME pvp balancing. Focusing the balance on pvp makes pve feel stale. Hell it makes pvp feel stale too. Boggles the mind about the trials cancels for 2 weeks too. Like how hard would it of been to stop all emote usage in PvP? Or just not letting people use that emote until they fixed it? Either the 4v4 format agrees with me, or all the good players have already left. This is a dumb chart. These were released at times that had far less going on in terms of credible online shooters and just online games period competing for playerbase. It is the Pvp people that are the pain in the ass, drop it from the game and focus on PvE and you will see a LOT of players come back.. I refuse to play the Crucible Go play COD if you think that stupid crap is fun Because I want destiny to get fixed. I wonder how much Destiny 1 has increased the last few weeks. Destiny 2 made me miss the good days of pvp and I, along with most of my friends, have all gone back to it. I imagine many have. This is bad graph reading. Like really bad. First you just misread the numbers, as the PVE droppoff is 68 Percent not 78 percent. In which case these number are absurdly high? Your email address will not be published. Skip to content Search for:. Netflix Not Working? Amazon Prime Video. Why not include The Division too? D2 is on track to lose players faster than TD did. This whole post is pretty abstract and misleading, beyond the bad math at play. I guess they need to shift their focus to PvP, then. How dare you write something well thought out and informative on this sub! I think my favorite part of Reddit is the fact that this terrible analysis has top votes. I get the feeling that people in this sub have a severe case of rose tinted glasses. D1 just felt like you achieved something good after a raid, or missions. I bought a western bacon cheeseburger earlier, it was better that d2. At least now you know why you are alone when you are doing events. The best part of all this salt - is that Bungie will in fact make the game better as a result. People claiming COD has only 1 million. Jesus should I just cancel my D2 pre order on pc? I would cancel it. Would like to give the Addons back too but seems impossible. Hahaha and they sald that Destiny 2 is Call of Duty Killer. The Salt Mines are flush. Gotta get it while the gettings good. Give me something fulfilling to grind for and I will come back, happily. I wonder how they track this? Do they track total amount of log ins per week? Wow, apparently Call of Duty has been getting steadily worse over time. Who needs to understand data when you can just make shit up and angry people will listen? I should have waited I guess.
