”I took it in my own hands and made a joke about it, because what are you going to do?“
When Kaley Cuoco first found out that her nude photos had been hacked and leaked onto the internet, she made the obvious first move: Prepare the folks back home.
“I sent an email out to my family,” she told Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night. “I said, ‘Just so you know, this happened… PS. I’m not pregnant, and P.S.S. I’m not getting a divorce.'”
After all that was settled, the “Big Bang Theory” star had some fun with it, posting a Nudified beach shot on Instagram.
“I took it in my own hands and made a joke about it, because what are you going to do?”
The ”Game of Thrones“ prequel is off to a fiery start in viewership
HBO's "House of the Dragon" scorches an impressive premiere viewership. (HBO)
“House of the Dragon,” HBO’s nearly $200 million attempt to franchise “Game of Thrones” with a blockbuster prequel spinoff, secured 9.986 million viewers across linear and HBO Max platforms in its Sunday night premiere, HBO announced Monday.
This was the largest audience for any new original series in the history of HBO and marked the largest series launch on HBO Max across the U.S., LatAM, and EMEA markets. The network notes that Sunday night viewership for an HBO series typically represents 20% to 40% of the show’s total gross audience, leaving room for bigger totals to roll in in the coming weeks.
It was an impressive start for the expensive fantasy series, which is the first “GoT” spinoff to receive a greenlight to series at HBO. The brand’s high-profile certainly helped establish a solid floor of viewership. Remember, “Game of Thrones” premiered in 2011 with “only” 2.22 million live linear viewers.
“It was wonderful to see millions of ‘Game of Thrones’ fans return with us to Westeros last night. ‘House of the Dragon’ features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response,” Casey Bloys, chief content officer, HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing with audiences what else George, Ryan, and Miguel have in store for them this season.”
The premiere drew the biggest debut numbers on streaming and pay cable in 2022 so far with 2.6 million U.S. households, according to Samba TV. For comparison, “Stranger Things 4” drew 1.2 million streams in its first day, per Samba TV’s data.
The “Game of Thrones” series finale was watched by a record 19.3 million live multi-platform viewers in 2019, including the most-watched single telecast HBO ever recorded with 13.6 million linear live viewers. The final season averaged more than 40 million viewers per episode when accounting for delayed viewing across all platforms, according to HBO.
Elsass played Jonathan Kent on The CW show, part of the Arrowverse
Earlier this month, Jordan Elsass, who played Jonathan Kent on The CW’s “Superman & Lois,” revealed that he wouldn’t be returning for the show’s third season. (The CW said that they would recast the role of Jonathan Kent.) Now, thanks to a series of Cameo videos, Elsass is opening up about the decision and where he’s headed next.
“It’s been a tough few weeks, as you might imagine, with everything going on with the show,” Elsass said in a new video recorded for a fan on Cameo. “It’s sad, it’s a real shame. I know that I was pumped for Season 3, for sure, but what are you going to do? Anyway, mental health is definitely 100-percent priority. It’s pinnacle. It’s got to take precedence. And mine has been … the last couple of years … it’s been rough.”
In fact, Elsass calls into question whether he’ll continue to act at all. (Elsass has been acting since he was very young.)
“I need some time to myself,” he continued. “I’m still debating whether I’m even going to act for a while. I may go in a different direction. I know that’s definitely going to be disappointing to some people.”
Elsass played Jonathan Kent, one of the twin sons of Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch). Superman and Lois’ other twin son Jordan Kent is played by Alexander Garfin. At the time Elsass stepped away from the show, he had also been away from social media. His engagement with fans on Cameo seems to have broken this blackout period, and it’s understandable that he would want a friendly outlet to vent some of his frustrations and illuminate what was going on behind the scenes, regarding his struggles with mental health.
While “Superman & Lois” is typically described as being part of the “Arrowverse,” a suite of shows that shared continuity and had characters frequently crossing over (with Tyler Hoechlin as Superman introduced in other shows), it was recently confirmed as being set in another universe. Although if we’re going with the “Arrowverse” connection, it is actually the last surviving “Arrowverse” show after massive cancelations following the reconfiguration of The CW.
Bee joins the former CNN anchor on her first project since the June cancellation of ”Full Frontal“
Soledad O'Brien and Samantha Bee (Getty Images)
Samantha Bee has lined up her first post “Full Frontal” project: She and former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien are creating a comedic docuseries about the crisis in women’s healthcare in the U.S., O’Brien confirmed to TheWrap on Monday. Bee, whose TBS series was cancelled in June after seven seasons, devoted several segments to abortion rights on “Full Frontal.” O’Brien has produced and hosted CNN documentaries such as “Black in America,” which touched on the fact that Black women in America are three times more likely to die due to pregnancy complications than white women.
According to Deadline , which first reported the story, Bee’s Swimsuit Competition and O’Brien’s SOB Productions were already developing the series when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. In the far-reaching wake of the historic judicial decision, the two decided to also host. The still untitled series will be a of mix journalism and comedy and will be out to buyers soon.
Bee and O’Brien are “done using their inside voices” as they examine access to abortion rights and birth control and take a skeptical look at the misinformation rampant in the “wellness” industry.
“This show is for anyone who’s ever casually mentioned endometriosis at a brunch, and then needed 12 more hours of mimosas to handle the ensuing show-and-tell of ailments,” Bee told Deadline.
“To put it bluntly, women’s health is a s— show and it’s far past time to shine a light on how 51% of our country is neglected, overlooked and misled when it comes to healthcare. In the wake of Roe being overturned, this show is not just relevant, it is absolutely necessary because women’s lives are on the line,” O’Brien said.
The series will also look at why U.S. women are sicker, more stressed, and die younger compared to women in other high-income countries and also why they have higher rates of chronic illness and are more likely to have issues paying their medical bills.
Writer and producers Sasha Stewart (Netflix’s “Amend: The Fight For America” “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”) and Keisha Zollar of Hulu’s Mike Tyson series “Mike” and “NBC’s Sketchy Times with Lilly Singh.”
O’Brien also produced the Peacock original “The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks” about civil rights icon Rosa Parks, which was a spotlight documentary at this year’s Tribeca Film Fest . It will stream later on Peacock.
The creator of the fan-favorite NBC sitcom tells TheWrap that a story outline for the film is in place and negotiations are underway
A “Community” movie will happen, the sitcom’s creator Dan Harmon has affirmed. The comments come on the heels of cast member Alison Brie previously telling TheWrap that “legitimate conversations” are happening about a film spinoff coming to fruition, with Harmon adding, “Legitimacy is here.”
After the promise of “Six Seasons and a Movie” became a rallying call for fans of the show – which debuted on NBC and finished its run as a Yahoo! Screen original in 2015 with Season 6 – Harmon and Co. were inundated with questions over whether a “Community” movie might happen. Now, with a story outline in place, negotiations are underway.
“I’ll confirm what Alison said which is that legitimacy is here, conversations and agreements are happening,” Harmon told TheWrap during an interview about the upcoming season of “Rick and Morty.” “There’s a story – who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.”
However, Harmon cautioned fans that this news doesn’t mean the film is necessarily happening soon.
“Now, I say that with such caution, because sometimes the audience is like, ‘So that means what a year, two years?’ I could have said what I just said three years ago and it would have been almost as accurate, and can you imagine if I had said that three years ago? That’s me setting people up for three years of abusive neglect and making them feel forgotten, and it’s hard enough to just say nothing.”
But while owing that the future is unpredictable, Harmon said it’s no longer an “if” but a “when” when it comes to the “Community” movie.
“When you put the percentage chances together it’s like you have to account for maybe the world blowing up or another virus happening. But as far as the industry is concerned, this is a matter of when and not if, for sure.”
Most of the major players of the show, including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs and Ken Jeong, have expressed enthusiasm for reprising their roles in an eventual “Community” movie, and the entire main cast (including Donald Glover) reunited for an emotional virtual table read of an episode in 2020.
While story details and where the film might end up (where it be a streamer or a theatrical studio) are unknown at this point, Harmon’s update is the most promising he’s given yet.
The duo also has contracts in place for a potential third season of the hit mystery series
Showtime has signed “Yellowjackets” co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson to an overall deal, the network announced on Monday. The husband-and-wife duo will continue to serve as showrunners for the mystery series alongside fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco, while also developing new projects exclusively for the network.
Gary Levine, who made the announcement with Jana Winograde, his fellow president of entertainment at Showtime Networks Inc., said in a statement, “Ashley and Bart are not only great writers, but they are also wildly original thinkers and creators. I’m not sure I would want to go camping with them, but I sure as hell love working with them, and I’m thrilled they will be working at Showtime for years to come.”
“Yellowjackets” received seven Emmy nominations for its freshman season: Outstanding Drama Series, two writing Emmys, acting nods for Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci, and nominations for directing and casting. The series has also been nominated for Best Drama Series and Best New Series by the Writers Guild of America.
“We are beyond grateful for Showtime’s partnership, advocacy, and vision throughout this whole process. David Nevins, Gary Levine, Jana Winograde, Amy Israel, Dave Binegar, and the whole team believed in the potential of ‘Yellowjackets’ and have been tenaciously supportive of us from the very beginning,” said Lyle and Nickerson. “We couldn’t imagine a better place to have landed (pun intended) and are thrilled to be continuing this journey with them. Buzz buzz buzz.”
The series, which takes place in two timelines as we follow the survivors of a plane crash of a female soccer team and their adult counterparts 25 years later, has a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its first season averaged over 5 million weekly viewers across platforms in and was the second-most streamed series in the cabler’s history.
Production on the second season is set to go into production at the end of this month in Vancouver and wrap in February 2023. In a recent interview with TheWrap, Lyle confirmed that contracts are already in place for them and the cast if Showtime renews the series for a third season.
NIckerson and Lyle most recently served as co-executive producers on “Dispatches From Elsewhere” with Jason Segel at AMC. Previously, they were writers and producers on “Narcos” and “Narcos: Mexico.” They also developed the feature film “The Big Empty” and wrote for three seasons on The CW’s “The Originals.”
The Los Angeles-based pair met in the early 2000s on the East Coast where their writing partnership began.
”The Good Wife“ alum is back as UBA news anchor Laura Peterson
“The Good Wife” alum Julianna Margulies has booked her return to “The Morning Show.”
The actress will return in a major recurring role as UBA news anchor Laura Peterson on the Apple TV+ drama.
Marguiles rejoins a cast that includes Billy Crudup, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. As TheWrap reported earlier this month, Jon Hamm has joined Season 3 in a key role.

Aniston and Kristin Hahn EP through Echo Films; Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine. Leder serves as an EP and director.
Margulies is repped by WME, Gendler & Kelly, and Wolf-Kasteler Public Relations.
