If there was one person who doesn't need plastic surgery it's Kaitlin Olson. She looks kinda scary now.
Kaitlin has a ton of self esteem issues. She's talked about it on podcasts like the one she did with Dax Shepard. She had a bike accident as a kid which lead to her falling over the bike face first on the road. She had to get plastic surgery on her face and lips as well as shave part of her head because she fractured her skull. This happened right before she was starting Junior High and that she got bullied ruthlessly because of it. She said in the podcast that that moment basically made her think she could never be pretty and has killed her self esteem and that she still hates how her face looks. The podcast was around 2 or 3 years ago, but clearly she has problems with how she looks and if she likes what she looks like now, good for her. I think she looks really nice most of the time. Rob has said that Sunny is filmed with a filter over the HD cameras making everything look dirtier and darker and the bad lighting can make her look not great occasionally, but it is intentional. If this woman is a plastic surgery disaster, then standards have gotten ridiculous.
Also, I feel like if she didn't get any work done a lot of people would still be making posts saying how old she looks. Being a woman over 35 in Hollywood has got to suck sometimes.

I think she looks just fine. I think Rob looks like an entirely different person. Like you could tell me s1 Rob, s7 Rob, and s14 Rob were 3 different people and i’d be convinced.
There are just moments where you notice their age, which in my opinion is absolutely fine. I do hope they start taking the characters into a more “mature” nature. Like they are still super assholes and scum of the earth, but in cases like Dennis, he doesn’t look like the young serial womanizer anymore, he should be like a more refined Hannibal lector type.
Either way, Charlie is really the only one that i think hasn’t changed lmao. They all look good though.
I think Charlie and Danny both have signature looks and different types they play than Rob, Kaitlin, and Glenn. They don't have to worry about getting any cosmetic work done or looking "good" because Charlie's hair, voice, and beard as well as Danny's overall look is so iconic to people and will always get them roles. Kaitlin especially has it hard because a lot of actresses either get treated like shit or confined to mom roles once they reach a certain age. Like Megan Fox is only 33 or 34 and they have her playing a mom in this crappy looking dog movie I saw a trailer for. The fact that Kaitlin was able to get her own network sitcom at 41 while playing the lead was pretty awesome and I hope Hollywood starts to give more than the same 4 actresses roles once they hit middle age.

100% agree, I find it really distracting in Seasons 12 & 13. It makes me sad bc I thought she was pretty before and she has such a hilarious and down to earth personality, and the plastic surgery seems pretty counter to that imo. She looks downright swollen in Season 12.
Unpopular opinion, but I find it hard to buy the whole story about the bike accident in relation to all that work, how would a decades old head injury require the typical Kardashian lips, cheeks and chin treatment? I just think it’s symptomatic of being middle aged in Hollywood and/or a response to Rob’s new physique? Regardless I can’t help but be a bit disappointed and very distracted when I watch her in new episodes now. I’ll get used to it bc I love the show, and just have to settle with the fact that the frozen fake face trend seems to know no bounds and that doesn’t mean that the person inside changes...bleh.
I know this is old but man, I brought this up to a Facebook group and those asses acted like they were her best friend. She can’t even make the same facial expressions as before. It’s a shame
I think they mean her lack of self esteem comes from the bike accident and the surgery is a result of her poor self esteem. I think she looks great regardless
I don’t think anyone claimed that the plastic surgery is a direct result of the accident when she was a kid, but bringing up that traumatic experience from when she was a kid provides context to what kind of self-esteem she has and her history of being ridiculed for the way she looked reveals a big insecurity that she has which leads to plastic surgery and not feeling comfortable with the way she looks
i actually cannot watch the new episodes bc of it. Its like... she is a person and not "dee" dunno if that makes sense. maybe bc its so damn apparent that she got the surgery , her character should talk about it.
I agree. The characters are all superficial so if they made jokes out of it, it would definitely go down easier. But now it's just an eyesore.
The problem is: Kaitlin Olson - the real human woman with thoughts and emotions - is the person who got the work done, not Dee. But now Dee - the character - looks visibly different, which is something the gang would absolutely shit all over her for, and the fact that they don't is a huge elephant in the room, and you can feel it while you're watching, for sure.
But the other problem is: When they call her a bird, or say that she's fat, or that she has a 5-head, or say that she has bizarrely huge feet, or that she doesn't fit the profile, or they style her in a way to make her look terrible, those jokes probably don't get to Kaitlin much because they're so patently false - Kaitlin has always been gorgeous. But if they started making jokes about her actual face, whether or not it's the result of plastic surgery, it could potentially start affecting Kaitlin off-screen. They're not gonna do that, so the huge elephant in the room stays. *shrugs*
Exactly. I always thought the actors of Sunny were above that vain Hollywood stuff. Guess not.

Glad she's getting deserved recognition. Her show The Mick was actually hilarious, I don't know why it didn't last but sometimes that's just how TV works.
