The complexity of integrating advanced refueling technologies with a legacy airframe has presented a steep learning curve. These challenges are not unique to the KC-46; complex defense programs often encounter unforeseen complications. The sheer scale and technological sophistication of a modern tanker aircraft mean that perfection upon initial deployment is a rare commodity.

Despite these setbacks, the KC-46 represents a crucial investment in the future of air mobility. Its ability to extend the reach and endurance of US air assets is unparalleled. As the program matures and the kinks are worked out, the Pegasus is expected to become an indispensable workhorse, enabling power projection and sustained air operations across the globe.
