OVERVIEW OF KALTER SCHLAG

Kalter Schlag is a trick-taking card game for 4 players. The goal of the game is to not win tricks. you want to score as few points as possible throughout the game. the first player to reach 2000 or more points is the loser.

SETUP

The first dealer is chosen at random and passes to the left for each new round of play. The cards are shuffled and dealt. Each player in a clockwise order should receive a hand of 8 cards. These can be dealt in packs of 3, then 2, then 3 again.

Card Ranking and Values

Kalter Schlag has two rankings. One is for the trump cards and the other for all other cards. The trumps are the four jacks and they rank jack of clubs (high), jack of spades, jack of hearts, and jack of diamonds (low). The other cards rank Ace (high), 10, King, Queen, 9, 8, and 7 (low). sòng bạc

Cards also have values associated with them. For the jacks, they all have a point value of 2 points. For aces their values are 11 points, 10 points for 10s, 4 points for Kings, 3 points for queens, and all other cards have a value of 0 points.

GAMEPLAY

The game starts with the player on the dealer’s left and continues clockwise. The leading player may lead any card and the following player must follow suit if able. Remember the jacks count as their suit and not as the one printed on them. So, if a jack is played you must follow with a jack is possible. If you cannot follow suit you may play any card.

Tricks are won by the highest jack played if applicable. If no jacks, the trick is won by the highest-ranked card of the suit led. The trick is collected by the winner and the winner leads the next trick.

When playing their card to the first trick each player has the chance to double the score of the round. The first time it is doubled it’s called kontra, then re, then bock, and finally if doubled a fourth time Hirsch is called.

SCORING

After all tricks are won for the round, players score. Players add up the values of their cards and the player who has the highest value, adds it to their cumulative score. If players tie, then each player scores the points.

 The score will be doubled for each call from the first trick. If any player won no tricks, the score is doubled again. If two players won no tricks, double the score again. Finally, round the score to the nearest 10.

If one player wins all 8 tricks, then instead of that player scoring all other players score 120 points. this is doubled for each call made in the first trick.

END OF GAME

The game ends when a player reaches 2000 or more points. This player is the loser of the game.
