The wife of a man seeking specialist treatment for his brain cancer in Germany has said she will "never give up" the fight to keep him alive.
Mark Redhead, 42, has spent six years going through successive cycles of radio and chemotherapy on a recurring tumour.
An lover of outdoor activities, including fishing, cricket and shooting, Mark's health has recently severely declined.
The father-of-one is now seeking support to raise enough money to travel to Germany and access new treatment.
Mark's wife Justyna, 43, told the News that there had been "a lot of tears" over the past six years, but the couple are "still hoping" to prolong his life.
It was in 2011 when Mark's brain tumour was first found by doctors. An operation at Addenbrooke's was followed by a referral to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for radiotherapy.
A subsequent scan gave Mark the all clear giving him and Justyna a brief period of respite, before the brain tumour was found to have returned in 2014.
That August Mark began a gruelling period of five successive cycles of chemotherapy that initial appeared to have shrunk the tumour.
But in 2016 the cancer had progressed further.
Mark, who works in a Wisbech-based food factory with his wife, was told by doctors he couldn't have any further radiotherapy or operations.
In January the couple, who live in Grimston, Norfolk, were then told Mark could join a drugs trial at Addenbrooke's hopsital.
But delays in the process saw Mark lose out on the opportunity and by March he was back on the same chemotherapy drugs he had received before.
"I was researching everywhere," explained Justyna. "Friends were helping me. I found out about a clinic in Germany and I started looking into what they are offering."
The German clinic has offered Mark a special combined treatment, but the costs of the private clinic and travelling overseas mean Mark and Justyna need to fundraise at least £33,000.
Justyna is determined to raise the money and get Mark the treatment he needs.
"For all of these six years there were a lot of tears. We are just still hoping," she said. "I told him I would never give up on him an I will try to keep him alive.
The couple have tried to live as normal a life as possible with their six-year-old son Oliver while Mark endured his rounds of treatment.
"It's been hard, especially the last two years since the cancer got back and started progressing," said Justyna.
"Mark was in quite good physical condition until January this year.
"Now he's quite fragile and weak on his feet and very down. He didn't see hope anymore.
"Since he was diagnosed by the doctors said they can't cure him but they can prolong his life. He was telling me it's not if but when. It's not really nice to live with feelings like this."
Justyna explains Mark has been hit by the inability to enjoy all the outdoor activities that kept him fit in the past.
"He was never at home," she said. "If he wasn't at work he was always out on the farm or shooting or fishing."
"When he wasn't physically able to do anything was really getting him down."
Mark and Justyna have already raised more than £12,000 for Mark's trip and treatment and hope to hit their target later this year.

More than £33,000 has been raised in just a few days to send a Grimston dad for pioneering brain tumour treatment in Germany.
Mark and Justyna Redhead have been overwhelmed by the response from family, friends and strangers to an online appeal.
The support means the 42-year-old, who has been fighting cancer for six years, has been able to book a place at the specialist Unifontis clinic.
Mrs Redhead set-up a GoFundMe Fight4Mark page on September 9 with a £33,000 target and 12 days later, the total had reached £33,732 with donations from £5 to £10,000.
The couple had no idea there would be such an amazing response to pay for what they hope will be life-changing treatment and they want to say a big thank you through Your Local Paper.
“We have been touched by the way people have responded. Mark is looking forward to going. Time is of the essence for us because he hasn’t been well,” said Mrs Redhead.
“There are just no words to say how grateful we are to everyone – family members, friends, work colleagues and even people we don’t know who have donated.
“We are amazed. We thought it would be at least several weeks before the money was raised.”
Mrs Redhead contacted staff at the clinic, which specialises in the treatment of cancer and tumour sufferers, to confirm her husband’s place and received an email on Wednesday with the date of October 9.
They hope to book flights to leave for Germany on either October 7 or 8.
Mrs Redhead said they were delighted to get the confirmation but also apprehensive.
“It is very scary. It is still unknown and a big hope for us,” said Mrs Redhead.
Mr Redhead, who has been told his condition is terminal, has undergone an operation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments.
“In 2011, at the end of June, Mark had an operation to remove the tumour. They removed most of it and he had radiotherapy to shrink what was left,” said Mrs Redhead.
“Chemotherapy also shrunk the tumour but it still came back,” she said.
Once in Germany, Mr Redhead will undergo three weeks of intensive immunotherapy treatment combined with a form of liquid aspirin. He will attend the clinic on four days of each week and have three rest days.
Money from the appeal will pay for his treatment, travel costs and possibly some other therapies at the clinic.
The couple, who will take their six-year-old son Oliver with them, plan to stay with relatives living nearby.
Mrs Redhead said she heard about the pioneering treatment through a friend who has breast cancer.
After carrying out research, Mrs Redhead spoke to the clinic’s leading consultant via Skype.
“Their results are very good. We know they can’t promise, but we are hoping it will be a cure. Even if it makes him feel better or gives us more time.
“It might prolong Mark’s life until some more treatment comes along in the future,” said Mrs Redhead, who was three months pregnant with Oliver when her husband was diagnosed with a stage three brain tumour at the beginning of 2011.
On her GoFundMe page, she said it was the “worst news we could ever get”.
Mrs Redhead said her husband, who had to stop work last June, loved to be outdoors. His main hobbies were fishing, shooting and cricket.
“He’s not really able to do any of these now,” she said.
The family said any surplus funds from the appeal would be donated to Brain Tumour Research and the West Norfolk-based Lisa Wiles Red Wellies Brain Tumour Support Fund, set up in 2012 in memory of the 43-year-old mother-of-three.

Contributions include £725 from Holly Meadows FC at Pott Row from a funding event.
Mrs Redhead also hopes to post updates on the page of Mr Redhead’s progress during treatment at the clinic.
